How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No thanks Bananiot, Blair may not be great, but I'd rather have him as leader than TPap...

Gentlemen, I have just quickly read through all the posts on these pages and must ask is "Alexis from Kent" my cousin Alexis Alexandrou ? and might I agree with the advice offered by "cannedmouse" in as much as not to be tempted to include Nigeria on your Holiday destination shortlist. Sampling the delights of lagos, Bonny, Warri, Forcados, Port Harcourt and Brass is not quite the same as Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
Please may someone also educate me as to why people feel the need to use an alias instead of their actual name, There is obviously a logical reason (I hope) as it seems everyone except me uses one. Forgive me if the question appears naive.

Erm...
1) Cannedmoose is not a mouse!
2) Erm... I don't really know why... well, I guess I don't like my name at all and I find this nick cooler. Plus, it's a norm, right?
3) You're not the only one (although you're certainly one of the very few). I know of at least one more - the infamous Alexandros Lordos.

Apologies, a case of a dyslexic finger. No offence intended.
I am still intrigued at the notion of identification by alias as surely a name is just that. I happen to be very proud of mine having known the couple of generations that have gone before me. I am sure cannedmoose is too.
Ah well, another of lifes mysteries, now it's time to go and earn a living in anticipation of the increases in indirect taxation that are now certain to be implemented.[/b]

So, man from Kent! You live north of the Medway then? Congrats for your predictions! Do you see Tony going soon?

Not north of the Medway, I was born east of the River, which makes me a 'Man of Kent'. If you're born west of the river, you're a 'Kentish Man' and thus an inferior being :P

As for Phoney Tony, I give him 2-3 years maximum. The Brownite camp will be chomping at the bit to get Gordon installed in good time for the next election. Plus I think Blair will find it difficult now that he can't dictate his will to the backbenchers, he could come across a lot of problems getting bills passed now with such a cut in his majority.

Sorry, I thought it was north and south, we all make mistakes! What is your view of Gordon Brown?

Hi Michael,

My full name is Alexis Daniel, so I'm afraid I'm not your cousin Alexis Alexandrou. I take it your cousin lives in the Kent area?
I have no problems using my real name here. I guess it's just a privacy
thing for most people. I think some members of the forum know each others names anyway, or might have revealed them at some time in the past.

Kanena provlima re... you'll know better next time :P

Gordon Brown? Not sure what I think about him. I think he's changed a lot in the past couple of years since he had a kid, used to be a typical dour, humourless Scot. But he's softened up and is genuinely enthused by certain issues such as third-world debt relief, funding for schools etc. I'm not happy with his more euro-sceptic stance, but otherwise I think he's very much a part of the new Labour project, so I don't think we'd see a huge change from the way Tony has run things.
