Beatles

Although I find some McCartney songs cringeworthy there is little doubting the genius that is 'Yesterday'.

GorillaGal - I also believe George Harrison's contributions were underrated - 'Something' is another classic.

Lennon's 'Help' has to be one of the most honest songs ever written........

I also like the acid-induced songs (not sure why!) including 'I am the Walrus', 'Come Together', and 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'.

But surely the total brilliance of the Beatles is encapsulated in 'A day in the life'?

This is my favourite. But I expect BC Nuisencespastic will accuse me of being a hell bound Romanist!

We ended up supporting Screaming Lord Sutch instead.

Your group/band being please?

This was a Mid week gig at the Derby Locarno. I'm nearest camera.

FreeSpirit, If Aidan catches sight of that picture and homes in on the position of your right hand coupled to your actual stance, I am afraid he might have something to say about it.

No offence intended I assure you mate, it just struck me as so obvious at the time, if you have a sense of humour I am sure you will forgive me.

Aidan will thank you for the tip. Otherwise it could have gone un-noticed. Lovely photo though. Good old rockers/

Quite agree with Talisker.

It was a unique combination of talents and the late Harrison's contribution is often understated as is borne out by his solo career but if you were to force me to choose I'd go along with "A Day In The Life" .

I have been a huge fan of Beatles music for longer than I can remember, although not necessarily a Beatles fan.
I can lay claim to having seen them live, (Southend Odean circa 1964) although the noise from all the screaming girls virtually drowned them out!
My daughter knew all the words to many of their songs by the time she started school, and I still play many of them myself on the guitar.
Personal favourite? Norwegian Wood :D

I too am a long-term Beatles fan…

Of all the marvellous songs though my favourite(s) is the medley on the ‘B’ side of Abbey Road (or tracks 8 through 16 if you have the CD :D )

Because
You never give me your money
Sun King
Mean Mr. Mustard
Polythene Pam
She came in through the bathroom window
Golden slumbers
Carry the weight
The end

I just think it is the most amazing piece of music and the ‘track’ that I play most often. Amazing (IMHO) that such genius could release the shite Maxwell’s Silver hammer and Octopus's Garden on the same album!

Is it cheating to choose so many?
