How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I know Bananiot. Nobody is perfect.

Since young age I concentrated in the essence of things rather than their appearance and therefore spelling was never one of my priorities.

Bananiot's grammar is appalling. However, I thought it would be rather poor manners to mention.

Besides isn't he just trying to deflect from a lack of a worthy opinion. :?

Personally, I will develop an opinion, just as soon as I have finished translating with my Ελληνο - Αγγλικο Λεξικο :D

Cannot find this word in my dictionary. :? :? Do you mean Elliniko

ΟΚΑΥ ... I think I have an inkling of what is on the cards.

Papadopoulos is urging for patience and restrain until the right solution for Cyprus is on the table ... and that is along the lines of TOTAL removal of Turkish influence in Cyprus so that the GCs can resume their normal lives throughout Cyprus. This I find is a most sensible course of action.

It is easy for the other candidates to criticise this approach and to feed on people's fears that the right solution may never be on offer. They are therefore scaremongering to gain votes. This leaves me worried that they will settle for the wrong solution and we will continue to have Turkey control part / all of Cyprus.

I personally feel a lot of pain at the plight of the GCs forcefully removed from their homes by the Turks ... the pain being exponentially doubled, because when a country is invaded usually all the people of that nation are in the same boat ... but with this scenario, the losses of some far out way the losses of the others. This acts to divide us GCs into refugees and non-refugees all in our own country.

(Of course human losses have been felt by all of us as we are a small island with tight relations and I do not know of anyone who has not suffered the loss of a relative because of the Turks. This human loss is not being addressed here as it is of such an emotional nature, that it deserves special attention).

To minimise this chasm we need to go some way to compensate for financial / historical / property losses by the displaced GCs so that they do not feel the rest of us are happy to bide our time for the right solution simply because we have not effectively had these losses.

A huge remuneration package should be offered to the displaced GCs by the rest of us, including those immigrants currently benefiting from Cyprus' affluence.

The compensations should be substantially more than the financial loss of their land and properties (with an equalising sum for those that did not have property but only roots there) ...

I know there is a small tax in place at the moment ... which is paid by all ... but we need to become united in the fact that we have to find the right solution for the whole of Cyprus and a lot of the argument against this seems to be that we are not giving due consideration to the immediacy of the losses of the displaced GCs ... and it is all right for the rest of us who have not lost our homes to be patient.

Maybe something like this has been done .... but obviously not on a level to allay the fears of the displaced GCs that the non-displaced GCs are happy to leave things as they are simply because they are benefiting financially.

I really wish Papadopoulos good luck and I am really sorry I won't be able to cast my vote for him as I have not been resident long enough.

Good Luck ..... Mr President Papadopoulos:D

Oracle, are you Phoenix by any chance? (Από τα συμφραζόμενα). Anyway, what do you know about my Greek grammar? And, by the way, I was only teasing Piratis but I suppose humourless people are to be found everywhere.

So .... how can the pro-Papadopoulos camp show the naturally wary GC ethnically-cleansed victims from the north, that the rest of us are not procrastinating because we have nothing to lose?
