ISESCO DELEGATION

Postby halil » Tue Feb 12, 2008 3:21 pm

Deputy-Prime Minister – Foreign Minister Turgay Avci has received a delegation from the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – the ISESCO.

The organization is a specialized institution of the OIC in the field of education, science and culture.
The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri is heading the delegation from the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which is in the TRNC for a series of contacts with Turkish Cypriot Officials.

The delegation started its contacts with a visit to the deputy-Prime Minister – Foreign Minister Turgay Avci.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr Altwaijri said that the aim of their visit is to improve relations with the Turkish Cypriot People.

He said that like other nations of the world, the Turkish Cypriot people also has the right to live freely.

Noting that their visit will create them an opportunity to learn more about the situation in the TRNC, he said that the delegation will prepare a report about their findings at the end of their contacts in the Republic.

For his part, Foreign Minister Avci pointed out that the Organization of Islamic Conference has been in support of the efforts aimed at lifting the unjust isolation on the Turkish Cypriot people.

Explaining that joint work will be carried out with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, he said that they exchanged views with members of the delegation on ways to improve relations with the OIC.

The visiting delegation will be received by President Mehmet Ali Talat on Wednesday.

Halil, you mean to say, that after 25 years, these people do not know ALL the situations in the "TRNC"....That's shocking.!!

They sound like a bunch of "free loaders" looking for a all expenses paid 3 days mini vacation paid by the "TRNC" for a little publicity.

Give me a break VP. How do you expect anything to come from these people who are invited, I'm sure all expenses paid by the "TRNC", to people who have no idea what the situations are in the "TRNC". Why do you want to deal with these kinds of people, as if they have been living under a rock or something for the past 25 years.

I hope they have at least heard of the "TRNC", even if they do not know anything about it. I just see it a waste of time dealing with these people when we should be pressing the RoC for a True Federation, with 2 States.

That's is what you want isn't it.??

If we cannot agree a solution the last 45 years being testament to this fact then we have to look to strengthen our ties worldwide, either visit abroad or invite people to the TRNC allowing them the opportunity to see first hand what is going on on this divided island. I have invited people form the UK Italy and USA and they have all become more understanding and sympathetic to our side of the story. Things will not change over night we have to work hard to achieve our goals and if the last 5 years of GC intransigence is anything to go by we have only one route left and that is to get the world behind us with regards to relaxing the embargoes, the world has now acknowledged this fact and the day will come when the GCs will be kicking themselves for not being proactive and just pinning their hopes on leaders who play the tit for tat game with no results, agreed partition appears to be the only way forward.
