The Essence of TCs and the Substance of GCs ....

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Expatkiwi » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:31 am

Eric,

Sometimes, trying to debate these folk is like trying to talk to a brick wall. They are like ostriches in thinking that TRNC doesn't exist. I tell them that if it doesn't, then try walking directly from Larnaca to Cape Apostolos Andreas/Zahir with a Greek Flag, and no other items on their person. What will happend at the Green line will convince them otherwise, I think...

If one person tried to do that Dean, nothing much will happen, he'll be sent back to the hell hole he came from but if a hoard of them tried it then what ever happens to them at the border will only be their own fault.

Like I said before Dean, I don't debate with these idiots any more, I just take the micky out of them. They are thicker than a brick wall, especially that belly dancing monkey kick-a-poo, saying one thing one minute and then contradicting himself the next.

Is that the new international standard for determining what constitutes a "country"?

Eric, you're forgetting that the 'TRNC' has no legal right to exist,as it is Turkey's pirate state.

After reading Kikapu's posts, we can modify the equation to fit the likes of Eric, thus:

Greek < > GC < > Cypriot < > TC < > Turkish < > Mongolian

(Apologies to Mongolians for the inclusion of Eric, but this is an exercise in fitting into "Cypriotness, and does not reflect on Mongolians in any other way :D )

Regardless of legalities, TRNC exists, and technically, there is no real barrier stopping other countries recognizing it in due course. The UN Resolutions only CALL UPON UN Member stares not to recognize it. It is not a mandatory order from the UNSC. That means that a UN member is still free to decide, and of course to the handful of non-UN member nations, they are under less of an obligation to heed the advice of the UN.

Dean,no British Commonwealth member state recognises the 'TRNC',as Turkey's illegal occupation has been condemned in the strongest terms at some of the British Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings.Every British Commonwealth member state recognises the Republic of Cyprus as the only legal government of both parts of Cyprus.

It would be nice to have diplomatic recognition, but economic recognition is equally important and in the end, probably more decisive.

TRNC is getting increasing economic recognition. BMW, HSBC, CocaCola etc get the headlines, but not long ago I was served mussels from Havelock Bay, NZ. So at least one kiwi is economically recognising TRNC!
