Does anyone knows how to go about and make your own dating site??? Do you think I can make a good business out of it???

Are there any packages?

Do you need your own server?

I just looked into this topic myself, not to start a site but to join one. I don't know what the online dating scene looks like in Cyprus, but here are some ones focused on the US (and maybe Canada):

• www.Match.com - has video and voice profiles. Digitally wink at someone who interests you. (widely regarded as the best dating site)

• www.PerfectMatch.com
• www.Chemistry.com (launched by match.com)
• www.greatboyfriends.com might be worth a look
• www.Goodgenes.com
• www.matchmaker.com
• www.spiritualsingles.com
• www.Soulmatch.com
• www.Udate.com – the Q&A is very extensive, and the site’s search tool allows very customized Q&A’s searches. In theory, matching by formula should be easier on Udate than most other sites.

You have to know what you are doing, I mean if you want to do it you must be a web developer.
Second, it's not really hardif you know what you're doing, but it takes time.
And finally, you don't need your own server (I mean being yours), you can get a domain and hosting from some web sites that offer this kind of things.

If your dating site is really being visited you should consider a dedicated web server.

Hope this helps. I don't think you'll make a fortune out of this, I've created one for the company I work... and it doesn't get any money to us yet.
You should also consider advertise it, a lot.
