i guess what annoys me most is that my ID states I am BRITISH, though I am British-Cypriot, but, according to the authorities, because my father is english, and I was born in UK, I am NOT Cypriot.. !??!

Learn to live with these differences ...

The UK is as much to blame as any ... Wait till you have to worry about Inheritance Tax ... The UK will be on you like measles

For now ... just sort out your passport so that 3 year old and you do not have to spend time in customs ...

Well I am back from the UK and had no problems at all using my CY ID instead of UK passport...
Although the lady at the gate didnt recognise the id format it was accepted without any fuss...

And it saved me 100 pounds (cost of a new passport these days) which i spent on a new outfit

As I said in my post I had no problems too but others I know have ~ mind you they travelled around May time last year so perhaps the immigration has at last caught up with the idea that ID cards are valid for travel or you were lucky with the Cyprus immigration guys
