The scarf is seen as a political symbol and it promotes division, lot of EU countries like France are also debating it, and some are even talking about banning Christian cross necklaces.

Education is the key Shahmaran, and not banning...Somehow you missed the point...I did say univercity...Somehow I do not see all these graduates taking up jihad upon there graduation...or whatever sharia law...they moved on...

As Eliko summed it before, the people that adhere to Islam, ain't terrorists...

Human rights is the key here...

What do you think of the system in Iran?
Do you think people of Iran have human rights?
Given the chance these people who are campaigning for the head scarf wouldn't hesitate to bring sharia law to Turkey....what do you say to that?

Perhaps you should also be asking yourself what the illiteracy rate is in the south before concerning your self with others ~ you are aware there is a illiteracy problem aren't you.

Bill

Yes I am aware of this problem amongst the flux of incoming Brits.

As you have been in the UK for the last 40 years are you classing your self as the same ~ do you really think that Cyprus is the Centre of the universe and everybody else is inferior .

I'll ask again " are you aware of the level of illiteracy in the south " or are you choosing to ignore it as if it doesn't exist

The headscarf deal is there because of Democracy and because the majority of the country happens to be poorly educated religious people who voted for a religious government, why don't you also talk about the demonstrations of the millions who do not wish to go back 100 years on the matter?

Probably because that wont really suite your pathetic attempts to insult all Turks.

At least people are fighting for a true secular state, unlike the thousands who was slurping on some Makarios sausage, were you one of them or were you too young back then?

The headscarf deal is here because you are at least 50 years behind the rest of Europe ...

No problem ... just accept it.

It makes sense of the shit you spew to me as a female on this forum Shah ... go back to your backward nation until they vote and tell you what to think ....

To be honest, judging from the way you speak all the time, i am starting to doubt that you are actually a woman, you might as well be a man, Very racist one as well!

You have no real knowledge of the Turkish people, when it comes to Turks you literally live up your arse.

Let me also remind you that half of those "Turks" did not vote for such government and do not want to be discussing the "head scarf issue" however EVEN Europe is discussing it as they also have this problem, so go read some newspapers and come back when you actually know what you are talking about.

You need to sort out your racial issues before you can actually start patronizing others, yo are pathetic.

Literacy in the south ranks amongst the highest in the World, there is no comparison between GCs and Turks ..... and to top that literacy, in the south is well higher than currently in the UK...

What is your point Bill? :?

A question for you:

Is there any difference between a Turk and a TC ?

The only reason why you open such threads is to only stir trouble, if you wanted to learn the facts behind whats going on you would have been more conciderate. The funny thing is you call yourself a "scientist" , but your methods and language are nothing close to it.

I find it absurd that a whole country is debating whether a woman has a right to wear what ever she wants...

Umit07, you said you came from OZ and I don't know when you left, but if you set foot at LaTrobe uni you would see it has become the headscarf capital of Melbourne...

Could you imagine the uproar if the same debatte was hovering at the OZ parliament?

Get it through your heads, its a personal choice...What you are asking is against a basic human right...judging what a woman wears or what she believes in...You have accepted Gul marrying his first cousin, and I beleive when she was 16, rape in most countries...

Boomerang

The problem is that the "Turban" is trying to be passed off by these so called religious bastards as the traditional "head scarf" worn mostly by woman while working in places like fields, to keep thier head clean. There was no usage of the turban in turkey until the 80's and also no debate about it up to that time. What they are doing is using the turban as a political symbol. Any woman can wear a turban in their own private life what they cannot do is wear it in any gov. institution. What people are scared of is that it will be a move to change Turkey into a non-secular state and when we look at the stuff Tayyip and his lot have tried to do and his remarks before becoming PM there is danger. The guy tried to pass a bill outlawing adultery! and tried to give the right for "hoca school" students ( which educate students to become hoca's in mosques ) to be able to go to university after graduating.

Yeah thankfully they also educate themselves in their special "religious schools", which is why Turkey made the compulsory education 8 years so that people can at least get SOME real education before they get poisoned with the brain disease called Islam and hopefully choose the modern way of thinking, do you think that also is against their human rights boomerang?

I don't really think people understand the extent of the whole "head scarf" issue and only see the aesthetics of it, in fact that is just the symbol of a whole mentality that Turkey has had the misfortune of having to fight it for the past century.
