The Presidential Spokesperson Hasan Ercakica has strongly reacted to the Greek Cypriot Administration for its criticism of the former German Chancellor Schroeder – who visited the Republic last week as guest of the Prime Minister.

Criticising the Greek Cypriot Government Spokesman Palmas for his comments on Mr Schroeder’s attitude during the visit, he said Mr Palmas’ words have once again proved the Greek Cypriot Side’s mentality seeing it an obligation for all to be in support of its policies.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, the Presidential Spokesperson said that the former-Chancellor’s visit has once again brought to light the Greek Cypriot efforts towards maintaining the international isolation on the Turkish Cypriot people.

He said the visit also reflected the Greek Cypriot mentality seeing it as an obligation for all to support its policies.

`Those waiting respect to their attitudes should show respect to the others’ views`, he said.

Mr Ercakica also noted that although Mr Schroeder is not an official representing the German government, his support will positively contribute to the efforts aimed at bringing about a solution to the Cyprus problem and removing the isolation on the Turkish Cypriot people.

Responding to so-called proposals brought by the leader of the Greek Cypriot AKEL party - Dimitris Hristofias, he said the proposals have proved the fact that there isn’t much difference between the vision of the Greek Cypriot Leader Tassos Papadopulos and that of Mr Hristofias.
