the property market is over, partly due to global credit markets and partly due to the way foreign buyers are being treated. prices are sky rocketing out of control. inflation is mega. your own people are being cut off the electric and starving.as for looking after the trnc, quarrying away the mountians, building concrete jungles and littering the whole island. thats without the rain forest of paper the goverment must use in its offices daily. hotels are empty.
the expats are uping sticks and leaving due to the constantly insane racist goverment laws.
the only way the trnc will prosper is for the tc people to get a grip sooner rather than later. thats if it is not already to late.

I think the T/Cs will get a grip once they stopped listening to people like Zan and reject the partitionist theories . As for becoming a part of Turkey well look what is waiting for them .
So-called "honour killings" continue to be a grim reality wherever conservative social mores resist the rule of law.

"In Turkey, a recent government study estimated that around 1,000 honour killings have been committed in the past five years. The victims are mostly young women, murdered by male relatives for transgressing chauvinistic social rules.

Women have been killed for having illicit affairs, talking to strangers, or even for being the victim of rape. Turkey's justice system has recently increased penalties for honour killings, and ended the practice of allowing murderers to claim family honour as an extenuating circumstance. However, getting a child relative to carry out the killing remains a horrifying way around the law.""

I dont think the T/Cs are ready to travel back in time !

You are such a birk re Miltiades. You are telling little stories to scare the little children but do not realise that we are adults and are not scared easily  Have you been to any of the major cities in Turkey to see how they prosper?? Are you talking about those Kurds in mountains that are slowly coming around as well. Turkey is heading in the right direction my friend so your crap is going to change nothing.

Or recognition so that things can stabilise. The poor in the UK are having to go through the same thing in power costs and housing.

Carry on dreaming Zan , recognition will never be given , some tinpot little states might do so but recognition from where it matters will not. Do remember mate that the 35 thousand Turkish troops are seing by the international community as occupying troops. Come to think of it the same as the majority of T/Cs see the influx of Anatolian mountain people , a thorn on their side !!
Cyprus is their oyster and is right next door , free from occupation troops and answerable to International norms as well as EU rules and regulations.
The propaganda will just have to stop.
Spotted one of your lecturing sides last evening where it claims that the T/Cs were being butchered and massacred from 1912 !!!! Whilst under British rule. Mountain people might believe this , Zans of this world most certainly will but not your average T/C and I bet you I know more T/Cs than you do !!!

I was in Cyprus only a month or so ago Milti baby....Not a single TC wants to give you their island to do with as you please because they know they will not be there for long if that happens. They want their right and they want their guarantees. You on the other hand are prepared to see them suffer to achieve your domination and then tell me that you are our friend. Give me a brake !!!!!Some friend.

Very good post Rose ! That is the reason why the solution to CyProb has become an absolute and inevitable necessity.

As for expats, I completely empathize with their plight and unlike what this racist moron Aidan has been trying to inject into British forumers' mind, I have neither any disdain nor a contempt for britts.

On the contrary, thanks to the sensitivity of britts in the north who are saddened by the misery of hundreds of stray animals that they founded Kyrenia animal shelter to which I also have been donating some of my meager resources. (The locals here would never think of such a commendable initiative let alone set off)

Thanks to expats (british and euro) that we TCs could learn to become selective regarding the quality of goods we buy and the ambiance of the restaurants, beaches.

Whenever there are britts in someplace, there is evidence of quality and order and quietitude and respect.

While I am all for the dismantling of the two SBAs following a solution, I think these areas could be re-opened to the exclusive settlement of expats to build environment-conscious houses. (military out-civilians in).

Let us hope Comrade Christophias pushes hard to make CyProb a number one issue at the top of E.U agenda and other Euros stick to their commitment to re-unified Cyprus.

I am earnestly looking forward to say "Good Riddance" to every kind of nationalism, bigotry, xenopohobia that has been eating up this island for decades.
