Yellow slip...confused!!!

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Postby Niki » Tue Feb 05, 2008 8:12 am

I checked it out with a lawyer and yes - all you people that have applied before 2008 and have the little brown Alien booklet but are still waiting for the yellow slip you have to start all over again!

Every piece of paper and document has to be re-admitted with your new application form. Apparently it's (as Bill said) because there is a new system in place and they can't be bothered to process all existing applications into the new system.

I have my appointment at the beginning of May so make your appointment quickly.

Perhaps you need friends like David Blunkett to speed things up ....

..... Of course, you would have to sleep with him: but he is blind so I'm sure he's not too fussy 8)

Bloody hell, not all that rubbish again! God, this place is useless when it comes to government...

I was told they don't need the yellow slip for the car anymore, and I should be getting an ok through the post any day now (back in October). Still nothing. Then again, I guess I need the yellow slip if I actually expect to see the title deeds in my name any time this century...

I assume no-one has been informed by lawyer or government that they had to do this? I mean actually got a phone call or letter or anything? I'm betting is one of those things you only find out about if you mentioned it.

Sigh. So remind me, what massively probably illegal in the EU load of personal documentation was required for the immigration office again? I get mixed up with the car place in Nicosia...

Really should have rented and bought a car out here...

Cheers

Hello Everyone,

Yes, the immigration process & residency forms have changed to bring Cyprus into line with the rest of the EU. For EU citizens, you can find the revised forms at: http://moi.gov.cy/new/index.php?m=62&sm=88&l=2

There is an EU Directive entitled "Right of Union citizens and their family members to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States" (2004/38/EC). You can read a summary of it at: http://europa.eu/scadplus/leg/en/lvb/l33152.htm

Different rules apply to non-EU. These can be found at: http://moi.gov.cy//admin/sections/filed ... nglish.pdf

Thank you Nigel (again! )

What they forget to say is that there is no point waiting for the yellow slip (used to be pink slip) applications before this new system. We only did ours in October and now have to do it again. The yellow slip however is issued more quickly and you don't get the brown Alien booklet.

Seems strange just anyone from the EU can enter Britain, France etc without having to do this! That's Cyprus bureaucracy!!

I'm confused as to whether I should be worrying about any of this stuff :?

But I keep getting poo-pooed as soon as I ask anyone official whether I need to make any applications for anything formal.

It seems being born here has established some rights that even being away 40 years doesn't seem to have faded. I'm still not convinced :?

Even whilst I was doing the second stage of the lengthy dog - registration procedure in the government Veterinary department, the nice secretary there kept saying everything was automatic for me as I spoke Greek ... :?

.... But what if the UK puts up a fight for me ... surely I meant something to them back there :(
