Mobile phone signal booster for poor signal areas.

Postby smudgert » Sat Feb 02, 2008 1:05 am

Simply attach the Cell Phone Antenna Booster to the back of your phone or place it under your internal battery for better reception…instantly!

This Cell Phone Antenna Booster works with any mobile phone including digital, analog and tri-band phones. Also improves performance of pagers, cordless phones and two-way radios

Where it Works: Reduces static, inproves signal strength & extends cell range while using your cell phone in elevators, cars, tunnels, buildings…or anyplace your signal may be weak! Installs in a second! Just think no more static or dropped calls!

How It Works: Like a satellite dish, The Signal Booster captures stray static electricity around your phone and focuses it back to the signal, dramatically improving reception. Installs in seconds underneath your battery (comes with installation instructions)

You should notice at least ONE bar more than before.Keep in mind that in a near zero signal strength area(less than a continuous single antenna strength bar), results will be minimal. In areas wheres cell signals are non-existent , the booster will have no effect(but neither would a 10 foot antenna).

Retails for $19.99 in US.
In cyprus, 10 euros.

Hahahahahaha!

What a complete load of bollocks!

Mobile phone companies spend billions on the design of their phones and antennas yet this piece of tin-foil is supposed to improve performance when they couldn’t? :?

Proven time and time again to be a complete time-wasting con.

Shame on you.

try using one before you give your 2cents worth!

hey, apparently if they are fitted according to instructions they can help and I have seen a phone in an area that normally has 1 bar signal, now has 2 bars in the same area. After all the aerial is just wire, so it stands to reason that something similar added will pull in more signal.

No it doesn’t…

Don’t you think that manufacturers would add such a device if they could improve their ‘phones so cheaply? They spend billions on design remember.

And how would it work?

Apart from the fact that static electricity has nothing to do with GSM signals; a satellite dish is a parabolic reflector. It has a parabolic curve which focuses a signal from a wide area to a central point (the LNB). If your product is under the battery it must be flat and therefore cannot focus the signal but only reflect it.

More importantly, this device might actually shield the phone’s original antenna leading to a worse signal, shorter battery life and potentially overheating. After all, you can’t guarantee where the original antenna is in every phone.

The best advice to anybody that lives in a low signal area is to try a number of ‘phones to find the best performance or buy a phone with a socket for an external antenna sold by the manufacturer.

Oh, as to your observation of the thing actually adding another bar, we’ve all seen extra bars gained just by turning around, moving a foot one way or the other. This is common in low signal areas and often influenced by the phone switching to (or camping on) another transmitter trying to find the optimal reception.

Well not quite correct .

For a radio receiver / transmitter (which is what your mobile is) to work at its optimum it needs a good aerial that's true BUT that aerial must be resonant with the frequency used and be of the correct electrical length or fractions of that wave length.

Adding to or indeed subtracting from the original design length puts the aerial out of resonance whether it's by a direct or inductive connection so your theory of more wire equals more signal doesn't work.

All you will get from a bit of tin foil at the back of mobile is ~~~ a bit of tin foil at the back of the mobile and it may actually in some circumstances reduce not increase the signal strength .

So to put it bluntly ~~ it's a bit of a con ~ but if it works for you then that's fine.

As Grumps stated the phone manufacturers put a lot of money into their research ~ if they thought that putting a bit of tin foil or wire in there would give a better signal they would have already done it
