2008 a Good year 4 the TRNC

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby paaul12 » Sat Feb 02, 2008 2:05 pm

After that little outburst from some members behaving inappropriately, can we get the thread back on track:

2008 a good year for the TRNC

Let’s list the positives so far and update this thread throughout the year, then in January we can update and summarise the achievements.

1. A European delegation holds contacts in the TRNC on the harmonization of the Turkish Cypriots with the acquis

2. Turgay Avci for the first time spoke with the capacity of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the TRNC at the House of Lords. The fact that on the table where Foreign Minister Avci was speaking the flags of the TRNC and Britain were together drew attention.

3. FORMER German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said yesterday he saw no reason why direct flights to the north could not take place from Germany.

No one except their Lordships is allowed to address the House.

The meeting took place in rooms within the Parliament building. It is a common practise for interest group meetings to take place in this way, arranged by sympathetic MPs or Lords.

The meeting was organised by Lord Magginis and the “Friends of North Cyprus Group”. Enough said, me thinks.
