How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I really don't know the truth to that but all their doing is wiping out all YOUR excuses, which there aren't any left for anymore bickering. But you keep bickering "TRNC", Annan plan, my way or the highway, wa-wa-wa-wa-wa. Stop saying were stubborn, everyone understands our situation what we're dealing with to get back our heritage in the north that was STOLEN from us. Stop thinking anyone outside Turkey believes what you spew. Stop, your actually making fools out of yourselves at this point. It's pathetic.

This guy seems to think its a good idea to start "kissing our arse" and he lists why, I'm sure you too are also aware of all this, but obviously need to think "outside the box"

"First, if the Franco-German axis manages to impose its desire on the EU to offer Turkey a special relationship with the bloc instead of full membership.

Second, the domestic crisis in Turkey makes its position on Cyprus unpredictable.

Third, the independence of Kosovo can be construed as a precedent by those who want international recognition for the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’."

No one is kissing anyones ass shah. Again, your looking to still be treated like a one way bubbleboy. You'll get respect when you give respect. When you talk in vain you'll get the same back.

To be honest growuptcs, i am not here to earn anyones respect, i have no personal relation with anyone here, i just give my opinion, and i like you to respond to me about the matter rather then your personal attacks, then i might actually start taking you seriously and you might get the respect you seem to want.

Its a reciprocal matter my friend.

Well said shah, we're not here to gain respect. I keep coming back here to read posts that make me react foolishly all the time. Just easy when you write back to Oracle, because others take offense as well with our heritage at risk.

At Last some real news!

Old habits die hard. This is the familiar tune that had been played over and over again by a large section of the media in the five years of the Papadopoulos presidency during which negativity reigned supreme and the lack of movement was always blamed on the intransigence of the Turkish Cypriot side. It is no surprise therefore that newspapers and television stations jumped the gun as soon as it became known on Monday that work had not begun because of some technical obstacles. That Turkish troops had scuppered last Friday’s deal was Monday night’s main story.

But I think that the most significant contribution made by the new president was his public statement about the culpability of the Greek Cypriot side in relation to the collapse of the Cyprus Republic in 1963. It was an invaluable admission that would help the creation of a new climate in the relations between the two communities. It was the first time that a President of the Republic made such a bold, public admission, at long last dispelling the official myth about the “Turkish mutiny” with which two generations of Greek Cypriots had been brought up. Turkish Cypriots should appreciate this.

This column has for 20 years stressed the need of this admission being made by our side – the admission of our responsibility (Makarios’ to be more specific) for the bloody clashes of 1963, and all the ills that followed as a result of our foolish behaviour. This is why I feel obliged to congratulate Christofias for his political boldness.

There’s a Lira Lira savings to be made in North Cyprus

Swap the Euro for the Turkish Lira and head to North Cyprus this summer where you’ll be guaranteed to make the pound in your pocket stretch further. Just a four hour flight from the UK, you don’t have to go long haul to benefit from a healthy exchange rate when you visit North Cyprus and with direct flights available to Larnaca with Direct Traveller, there’s no better choice of destination for your summer holiday.

A pint of beer in North Cyprus will cost you a thirst quenching £2.50 rather than a hangover inducing £3.37 in Spain; a three course meal will cost an appetising £10-£15 per person in Kyrenia, whereas in France you would pay a stomach churning £25-£30 per person and the average cost of a relaxing half-body massage overlooking the ocean in North Cyprus will set you back just £25 whereas in Italy you’ll pay a more stressful £35.

Ramadan Ozdemir, Managing Director, Direct Traveller says: “North Cyprus is growing in popularity as a destination with savvy UK Holidaymakers. We have seen an increase in sales of 150% from last year, with March being even busier with sales up by 200%. As of 31 March we had sold 2,800 holiday packages, just 200 short of the whole output for 2007 and are on target to reach 9,000 by the end of 2008.

"Where the European Union has created a currency bubble, customers are trying to avoid high package prices. Also, the current strength of the Euro against the pound has made Europe a more expensive destination. North Cyprus however, is ideal for travellers looking for an affordable holiday without long flight times.”

Packages to North Cyprus are great value for money with prices starting from £315 for seven nights. With direct flights from regional and London based airports, holidays to North Cyprus have never been easier with Direct Traveller.

4* SHIP INN HOTEL, KYRENIA, NORTH CYPRUS - SEVEN NIGHTS FROM ONLY £329 PER PERSON
The Ship Inn Hotel is a perennial favourite with Direct Traveller’s holidaymakers. The flawless gardens surrounding the hotel are home to many wild flowers and trees, in addition to the olive trees, citrus groves and vineyards that create a traditional and tranquil ambience for guests.

The hotel has a large freshwater swimming pool, pool bar and cafe, fitness room, massage services, tennis court, English pub and regular entertainment.

Fly direct from London Gatwick on 14th May 2008. Prices start from £329 per person for seven nights at the Ship Inn Hotel, Kyrenia, on a bed & breakfast basis. This package includes flights, transfers, breakfast and rep service.
