Webcam Question

Postby Sega » Thu Jan 31, 2008 6:53 pm

Hello all,

I have a question regarding web cams and their use online. As it currently stands I have a 1.5mb/s Internet connection, it's upload speed is around 256 kb/s. I am running an 64-bit OS platform, fast as it maybe there are certainly issues with hardware compatibility.

I have managed to find a decent web cam which will run on this platform, it is a 2MB web cam as it's quite good.

The question is simple, basically I would like to be able to use it's full performance, what Internet upload speed would be required in order to acquire it's full potential. Is this even humanly possible in Cyprus?

I am also interested in using this web cam on a web page, were by the user will need a user name and password to log in.

Does anybody have experience with this?

Thanks for the link.

The link provided is about a service which stores web-cam footage online for it's audience and rebroadcasts it so that you don't need heaps of bandwidth. I don't need this service, good as it maybe. I want to stream my footage live so that I can speak in real time, however I do not want to use msn or yahoo messenger, I would prefer if my live broadcasts where do via a website. This site you provided is perfect for archiving footage, I do not have a problem with online storage or online hosting. I however do I have a problem with my bandwidth and what the required bandwidth would be to stream something like that out.
