Cold Winter - donation of blankets please

Postby junemichael » Thu Jan 31, 2008 5:21 pm

The Association for the Protection of Animals are sending out a desperate plea to people to donate blankets, food, dog beds and dog boxes to care for the dogs at our shelter. The shelter is just a warehouse in which volunteers have built pens for stray and abandoned dogs to live but the floor is concrete and the shelter is very cold so please think of the dogs in this cold weather and check your cupboards for unwanted blankets and towels, spend a little extra money at the supermarket next time you go shopping and buy some dog food, got a dog bed or kennel that your dog don't use then please donate it to these poor dogs. We have 100 dogs that need warmth. Do you knit? Knit some dog coats to keep the dogs warm. Anything and every thing welcome including your time of upto 5 hours one or more days per week to come to the shelter and feed, clean and walk the dogs. They are all loveable and friendly.

Have you tried putting down some straw in a thick layer, may help keep the heat in. Poor little souls.

All of them. Also try the Cancer charity shop in Limassol next to the zoo,it is British run.If I was in Cyprus I would help.Ask to put a box in the supermarkets for donations of pet food.
Maybe the Donkey Sanctuary at Vouni may help,it is now run from the UK.

Perhaps a local farmer, there must be some left over from the harvests.

Yes, but we don't know any local farmers. Have to keep our eyes open when we see someone cutting their field. Thanks for the idea
