utility bills

Postby Kate&Lee » Thu Jan 31, 2008 3:53 pm

Hi,

I have a one bed apartment in Pissouri to be used as a holiday home for about 10-12 weeks of the year. Is there anyone else in the same position that can give me an idea of what the water, electric, council tax bills etc will be like. I already know about the maintenance costs. Also are these paid monthly?

thanks
Kate

I have a house in a village in the mountains.I pay a village fee of £60 per year for water and refuse, electricity is more expensive than the UK,but for 12 weeks you are not going to run into hundreds.Set up direct debits with the bank, all very easy..

Hi Katie

I'm still awake!

Don't worry about the ongoing bills they are next to nothing. To connect the 'leccy' will cost 1 or 2 Euros per month (which excludes running costs). The council tax I was told costs £60 CY a year and water is around 3 or 4 Euros every 1 or 2 months.

Air con can be quite expensive though.

Oh dear oh dear…

Why not check out one of the many threads on this subject where people have posted their exact bills instead of uninformed guesstimates?

Of course we have researched, we are not that stupid!!!
However everything I have read about is for people that live there full time not for 12 weeks per year!
This is not a decision we entered lightly, we researched quite a bit and have waited 2 years for it to be built.

Water bill is every 3 months. In Larnaca the fixed charge was £5.36, maintenance fee £2.63.
Leccy is every 2 months, fixed charge £2.74 and charges for renewable energy sources 0.13 cent/KWH.
Council tax was £65 a year but I lived in a 3 bed appartment.
