Are we really Europeans?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Cheshire Cat » Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:30 am

That was the original question, I consider myself European, you do not. That is fine , vive la differance.!!!

Why does every thread turn political, ? No matter what, if the cat had kittens it would be political.

As for Eurovision, I have always thought it was tongue in cheek , I cannot be bothered with it.
if Brits are horrible, then why are there so many adverts for Cyprus property on British T.V. , why not say, hey dont come here we do not want you ? Advertise in Greece, they are your buddies surely.

In the Britian we do not say on Cyprus T.V. Hey come to the U.K. and buy one of our properties. People still come of course and settle dispite Britain being full to bursting. And before you start again, I was refering to any nationality, If Britain is so bad, then why are there so many imigrants ? By imigrants I mean nationalities other than the British ?

I left Britain to live in Cyprus, I followed the rules did everything by the book, did not like the way things were going so I left, and Moved to France, which I like.

So, Because I chose to live the life I want ,in the country where I am happy, I am critisized, but I cannot critisize you, nor would I, you do what you want. But just because my life is different to yours, you guys get angry.

Cheshire cat, since your comments follow mine and seem to refer to my reluctance to adopt the title 'European', I am a little concerned that they may have been directed at me personally.

Any question pertaining to 'Europeanism' must be closely associated with politics for obvious reasons, all of those member states which are affiliated to the EU are subject to the political structures which created such a union.

I have never made any reference to Eurovision, nor have I ever critisized you for your personal choices which leads me to the belief that perhaps they are not entirely a response to my post.

Your final comment regarding 'anger' is quite perplexing since I certainly do not intend to convey any such emotion in my posts, I readily agree that there are times when (in dealing with political and military malevolence) my opinions may be subject to misconstruction.

I am usually quite careful in following another member's contribution by either addressing it specifically or attaching it to my response, I do hope that you are not of the opinion that any of my posts (unless specific) are intended for you personally. Kindest Regards. Eliko. :)

Eliko Mon chere,
I was not addressing you personally, I was making a general observation which I am sure you will have noticed.
when comments are aimed directly I will endeavour you use that persons ID .

What does concern me is that these threads start off as innocent, and gradually turn back to the same subject.

I am at a loss to understand why. I will leave you in peace with this thread.

EU’s damning report on disabled

THE EUROPEAN Commission came up against a brick wall in Cyprus when it tried to gather information from the government for an EU-wide report on people with disabilities, it said.

“The collection of data about residential services for people with disabilities in Cyprus has proven a very difficult task. The establishment of key-contacts within the country has been impossible.

“We have tried to contact the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare several times but these tries were unfruitful,” said the damning report.

Even the information researchers did manage to obtain, after having to resort to the internet, lacked reliability and accuracy, the report said. Most of the data they found was six years old.

Mechanic faces law suit for stubbing out cigarettes outside plane

According to Phileleftheros sources, one of the two passengers was related to a former senior member of the police and the mechanic was told to “be careful” by other airport staff. The paper suggested this may explain why no further action was taken against the two men, who violated extremely serious airport safety rules.

and for the latest:

Nor is there any point in sneering at electoral, economic or strategic considerations that may give Turkey greater weight in the world’s capitals. That’s what politics are all about. Yes, Turkey is a massive strategic partner for the United States, the European Union and even Russia, suffocating any influence that Cyprus might have      . That might not be right, but it’s a reality, one that makes it all the more important to overhaul what has become a systematically self-destructive form of diplomacy.

paaul12, within the arena of corrupt politics, you have a very valid point.

What a pity you spoiled it by wording it in such an antagonistic manner.

In my humble opinion.

Can we say with confidence that we are Europeans?

Whether your answer is YES or NO, justify why?

Leffette,
I my opinion Cypriots are most definitely NOT Europeans. Just take a look at most of them and they instantly remind you of Arabs sitting there twiddling their worry beads. They have the features of Arabs together with many of their outlooks on life especially the affinity to lay the blame for all their own problems squarely at the door of foreigners.
Did you ever hear of a Cypriot who will admit that part of the blame for the Cyprus situation as it stands, lies with the Cypriots themselves? I bet not. Cypriots are the gypsies of the Greek nation.
