The flag of the Republic of Cyprus.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Are you saying Denktash never plotted with the Turks. His radio announcement on the day of the invasion clearly points to him knowing it was coming. He wanted to be President so he set up his little militant wing to cause problems.

Yes Greece try to force cyprus into Enosis which my family were against as many other GC's. Even my TC's freinds agree that the fat bast@@d was plotting against his own country. Why the hell did so many TC's leave Cyprus once the Turks invaded because they didnt want to live under Turkish Occupation. Only idiots like yourself dont realise you have sold your soles to the devil. Hopefully one day you will realise what you have done when the turkish settlers finally take over.

So lets start from the beginning....ENOSIS...Megali Idea.....Any idea what these are and when they were started?????

Yes I do Zan. I know my history. As I stated I know we the GC's made mistakes in the past ENOSIS being one of them.

How about your little miltary wing when did that start? We can do this all day if you want. I've never read a post by you that offers a fair solution. Come on Zan please tell us what a fair solution would be in your mind.

I will let you know how I see a fair solution.

My solution is as followed:

In the first 5 years the country will remain as it is. Turkish Cypriots looking after the north the Greeks the south. All villages that are currently abandond to be handed back to GC's. TC adminastration & Turkey to compensate the residence with financial aid to re build the villages. TC thats want to return to their home pre 1974 can do so and Greeks living in those home to be resettled in a new city possible somewhere on the west cost. TC's to also build a new City in the North to house the future displaced settlers. Each adminstation to fund the two new citys. Turkish Troop level to drop down to 10,000 by year five. Both sides to be part of EU all restriction lifted on TC's

After year five 50% of the displaced GC's are allowed to return to the north still under TC's. Settlers move into the new City. Gc's are not allowed to vote in the north election only south and visa versa. In the next five years troop levels on both sides to be reduced to 2,000 each.

After year ten Turkey, Greece and Britain lose their rights over cyprus as per the Zurich agreement in 1960. The reamining 50% of Greeks are compensated by the TC's and turkey for their land they have lost and they are re allocated land on the British Bases and the new city in the south. Britain should only be alloud wo keep one base not two. A new united army to be formed each consisting of 2000 TC's and 2000 Gc's. Turkish & Greece troops to laeve Cyprus. Prsedential election to take place the winner of the north to be vice Presendent and winner of the south to become Presdent. Both to represent cyprus at Internation Political Meetings. TC's still run the North and GC's still run the south.

At least this way three quarters of the population deisplaced in 1974 can return to their homes.

How does that sound Zan?

First of all it shows ha you have not read what I have written at all. If you had you would have seen that I have always gone with the Annan Plan......I would like to see the return of the Zurich agreement as well...Aren't they solutions.......The problem is that this has gone too far so I am being practicle with the Annan Plan which takes into account the present situation......

Now with your plan...Who is to foot the bill again for the destruction of the Zurich Agreement??????

You see Zan nothing constructive to say? We both are as both communitys helped in destroying it.

Now answer my question what do think of my proposal? Is it fair or not? TC's get to administer the north and GC's administer the south under a united state.

Lets face it I dont believe you want a solution you would prefer to keep the status quo so you can keep moaning how unfiarly the TC's are being treated.

Zan do your family live on ex GC's property? Not having a pop just interested.

My family home is in the buffer zone and gone mate....My sisters have moved back...Well at least two of them and the third will soon.....Their houses are on TC land and they always told me not to buy GC land.....I never did and never thought of doing.....Now I am not so sure I would not...Not that I can afford to any longer..Not as a second home anyway so moving back is a long way off........The land in he buffer zone is my fathers land left to him by his dad in 1937 If I remember right from the deeds, and is a substantial amount.....

As to the rest of your plan.....I thought that I made it clear that I do not think it is fair with my sarcastic comment and that I thought the Annan Plan was fairer.....

Why is my plan not fair is because I expect Turkey and TC's to foot the bill for the the distruction caused by the turkish army?

The annan plan wasnt fair in my opinion. We the GC's were expected to pay for our own compensation. Do you really believe we would be that stupid.

You cant have it all your own way. My plan take the best points of the annan plan and some of my own ideas. You will get what you want and most GC's will get what they want what is the problem. Please explain? You cant dismiss somthing and not explain why.

Under my plan you would get your fathers property back. Where is the problem?

Who was burning TC villages in the period 1963 to 67 mate......And you ask me to read up on history....It is obvious you have bought into the "RoC" education system and it stinks......The very behavior that will split the island for sure......I really really advise that you read the past posts on this forum carefully to bring yourself up to date because I can see this conversation deteriorating rapidly...I have been patient up to now because I think you have not read up but it could all change...This is not a threat as you are bound to take it.........

Both of these national symbols will one day become the symbols of a united Federal Republic of Cyprus.

The problem is that when the flag and arms are used, its accompanied by the GREEK national anthem. That alone makes a mockery of the flag and arms.

Dean,Cyprus needs to have its own national anthem - one that can be easily sung in all 3 languages (Cypriot Greek,Cypriot Turkish,& English). The words need to reflect Cyprus as a country with a distinctive culture & a distinctive national identity.

The Greek national anthem should belong only to Greece,as Cypriots aren't Greeks.

If the Tcs or Tr had a problem with the Gr national anthem why they didn't object during Zurich talks. They accepted the flag and the anthem to represent Cyprus Republic.
