Cyprus is not full capitalist country. We are in EU since 2004 we didn't just join. So don't expect the workers to give up their rights any time soon

Although the shops may be open in the afternoon in the UK, the assistants are as dopey as any other time of the day and you cannot help wondering that they should have been home napping to get over the previous night's over -drinking sessions.
The hours that the Cypriot's seem to be open for are at least worthwhile, the people seem fully corpus????? mentis and the job gets done.
Quality not quantity is the key ....

Don't you see? 'The dopey assistants' as you call them could well be your fellow countrymen/women!!
Shops are shut for too long over lunch and then they do not always adhere to the specified opening times. So annoying

Stop worrying about me and my countrymen.... I am not as parochial as you are ....
But, how annoying it must be that things do not revolve around hours to suit the Brits...
From what I can surmise, it means there is a hive of family activity at lunchtime, which beats the evening rush in the UK, and then, there is a second burst of activity, before winding down for the evening.
All current research points to this being the healthiest lifestyle ...
So what is everyone complaining about....
That we are not speeding to our graves fast enough and in true Cypriot style are taking time out to enjoy our planet ....
