The TC's are living in dream land. The German twat has no political influience any more as people keep saying he's only a business man now. Maybe he's visiting the Occupied Areas to buy some poor GC's land. He may be opeing a pork sausage factory who knows.

You will not get the restrictions lifted until we agree. When are you going to get this into your thick heads.

Former German Chancellor in bid to boost business to the north

FORMER German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder will fly into the north on Friday in an apparent effort to boost business in the breakaway Turkish Cypriot state, the German Embassy confirmed yesterday.

Speaking to the Cyprus Mail, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy Joachim Heidorn said, “I can confirm that he is coming to the island on Friday and that he will be accompanied by a group of businessmen.” Heidorn stressed however that Schroder was visiting the island as a “private citizen” and not as a representative of the German government.

“He is no longer an MP; he is an employee of Gazprom,” Heidorn said.

However, links between the Schroder visit and Gazprom were played down yesterday by head of the north’s Chamber of Commerce Hasan Ince, who said that the planned meetings had more to do with efforts to generate business links between the north and Germany.

“We’ll be holding talks with businessmen involved primarily in tourism, but also some other fields,” Ince told the Mail.

While Ince refused to be drawn on what the “other fields” might be under discussion, attention has focused on wealthy Turkish Cypriot businessman Ali Ozmen Safa, who recently unveiled ambitious plans to bring electricity to the north of the island via underground cables from Turkey. Thoughts of a link between the energy giant and power projects involving the north were further boosted by the fact that Safa’s Star Kibris was first to break the news of Schroeder’s visit yesterday morning.

Spokesman for the Turkish Cypriot leadership Hasan Ercakica yesterday, for his part, focused on the political significance of the visit, saying it would be “positive” as it would attract German media to the north. He added that Schroder’s visit had received the backing of Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat.

Kikapu,

If his visit wasn't that much important . Why Greek side of the Cyprus president Tpap. said on today papers he is in shocked .Why Gerhard Schroder still supporting the Turkish Cypriots ? This very important part of the arguments my dear Kikapu. It doesn't matter what positions he has now.Don't forget that civilians are directing the politician's all need the ordinary people votes to stay at power. Lobbying is very important in these days politics.Even you are 100 % right with your demands no one cares about you. That's what was happening all those years to TC's.
We all know what was happened in Cyprus after forming the ROC. Still to many arguments goes on . Most of the decisions are taken by the UN's are wrong. We , The Cypriots are knowing the Truth. But lobbies and propaganda machines are showing the things differently and rest of the world thinks that it was like that.
my advise to you don't take this movement very simple and good for nothing. We will see the effects later on.

Cuneyt Zapsu, an advisor to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan- has said that the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder’s visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not only a symbolic political visit, but a move which will lead to important results.

Mr Zapsu will accompany Mr Schroeder during his TRNC visit which is to start on Friday.
Mr Zapsu told BRT that the former German Chancellor will give an important message by using Ercan Airport to enter into the TRNC and by visiting President Mehmet Ali Talat at the Presidential Palace.

The advisor added that Mr Schroeder will also be bringing important messages to President Talat and Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer.

Stating that Mr Schroeder will arrive in the TRNC with a large group of German businessmen, he said a meeting will be held at the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce between Turkish Cypriot and German businessmen.

`So Mr Schroeder’s visit will not only be a symbolic visit but one which will lead to important results`, he noted.

TRNC Deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister Turgay Avci is in London for various contacts.
During his stay in the British capital, the Foreign Minister will visit several organizations and institutions.

He will also deliver a speech at the British Parliament.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Avci will also come together with Turkish Cypriots living in London.
Mr. Avci will return to the Republic on Sunday.

ZAN; go and see Mr:AVCI and tell us your views about his visit.

Halil,

I have one question for you.

Who is your speech writer. ?? You did not write the above post yourself, so who wrote it Halil.??

Regardless, Gerhard Schroder is just a "private citizen" and a business man. I cannot read anymore into his visit to the "TRNC" than that. I know he is a much bigger figure than anyone else may have visited the "TRNC" in recent history, even over shadowing President Gul, as far as world recognition goes, but he is sill a "private citizen" that did not even stay the night. Time is money as the head of Gazprom, who is also a close friends with Putin. So, how much is Putin supporting the "TRNC" cause.?? Answer that question, then you can crow about Schroder's visit as being more than a business trip.
