The Turkish Cypriot Flag

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Deniz, the Irish tricolour is a very sectarian symbol,as it represents the ethnic cleansing of Ireland's Protestant minority & the persecution of Ulster's Protestant majority. The real Irish flag is white with a red saltire, just like the one on the Scots flag.

You really do not have a clue about anything do you?? The green is representative of catholics, the orange is for the Protestants and the white a symbol of peace between them, although there is no actual official meaning to the colours. The current flag has been official since December 1937 (although used symbolically during the struggles for independence in the early 1900's) Go and study the history of the flags properly before spouting your eejit nonsense.

Tess, you're very gullible. You are also forgetting that Sinn Fein/I.R.A. ARE the new Nazis & Gerry Adams IS the new Hitler!

I have a friend who comes from County Armagh,&,yes, she hates what the Irish tricolour stands for.If she had been born in the Republic of Ireland, she would be flying the St. Patrick's Cross flag in addition to both the Northern Irish flag & the Union Jack.

Why argue about one divided island when you can argue about two.

Observer, there's never been any such thing as a 'united' Ireland. The idea of a 'united Ireland' is an avowedly Britanniphobic pipedream that has been dreamt up by the subhumans from Sinn Fein/I.R.A. & rammed down the throats of the Irish people, who have bought it hook, line,& sinker since 1916.

BC Numismatics,

Thank you, but one island's problems are quite enough for this forum are they not?

Aidan,

Sorry to have to disagree with you, but the red saltire cross was that of a powerful Irish family (can't remember the name). It is said to be the cross of St. Patrick, but since St. Patrick was not a martyr, he is not - strictly speaking - entitled to have a cross as an emblem. As a vexillologist, I read up quite heavilly on flag matters. The Irish tricolor is supposed to be a flag representing peace between the Catholic and Protestent Irish, hence the green and orange.
Northern Island still uses (unofficially) a variant of the Ulster Province flag (St. Georges Cross on white with a six pointed star in the center. The star has a red hand in the center and the star is surmounted by a crown).
