Piratis,if it hadn't been for the British,then there wouldn't be a country called Cyprus.Cyprus would have gone down the crapper had it remained under Turkish rule after 1878.

As for the British enslaving the Cypriot people,you really are thick! The British were the first colonial power to stamp out slavery - beginning in 1806,when slavery was outlawed in the U.K. itself,& in 1833,when slavery was outlawed throughout the whole British Empire.

The Cypriot people should be grateful to the British,as they established a very strong administrative system of government,& taught the Cypriots how to govern themselves.The British have left a very strong system of government in all of its former colonies,including India & Pakistan.

The British have also created huge conflicts around the world - infact pretty much whereever they've gone! Having said that I do agree that Cyprus did benefit from British rule - BUT - ultimately Britain was quite happy to ferment trouble in order to protect it's interests - that's the cold harsh reality of the world i suppose but hardly endearing.

The worst troublemakers that have caused trouble wherever they've settled are the Irish Catholics.They're the most racist people in Europe.I've met quite a few Irish Catholics out here in New Zealand,& they're just as thick as the ones in both countries on the isle of Ireland,& that IS a fact! I'm of Scots & Orcadian descent,& I am also from a fiercely anti-republican background.The Maori Nationalists & their lowlife republican allies have had their way over here for too long.
