Britain definitely caused the Cyprus problem

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

What would happen to the tourist industry.
What would happen to the Ex pat and British community.

Are you saying that the British go as tourists or immigrate only to places that they have bases?

What would Europe say.
What would your neighbours say.

They would say good for Cyprus. What would they say according to you? Maybe some countries in middle east that you are planning to go to war with will stop having Cyprus in their target.

What would happen to the Cypriot economy.

Do you know the value of prime coastal land that the bases occupy?

What would happen to Cyprus.

It would finally get rid one of the two occupiers.

I think if your Government were serious about kicking the British out it would have happened by now, don't you?

Are you saying that the British bases would just pack up and go?

Phoenix,
where do you get off. Some of the worlds most respected proffesors have published fewer than six publications.I always thought education was based on content not volume.I really think you need to retrain in something that suits your warped sense of realism.

Your reply - which didn't answer my question - just confirms that you literally do not know what you are talking about. Promotion of polytechnic staff to professor never hand anything to do with eligibility for research grants. And as for 'assessments' and RAE it is just bollocks. That in turn has got bugger all to do with pass rates. You're making it up.

Purdey is right.

Your question regarding which University I associated with is private information, and was also irrelevant because the Research Assessment Procedure I was referring to is generally applicable to ALL the Universities. That is how they are given their comparative ratings .... so it does not apply to just ONE University.

You can keep using defamatory language to describe the above procedure... but it does not make it false.

And as for:

Purdey is right.

.... go back to the playground

Yes only reason the Middle East haven't had a go at Cyprus is because of the bases.Yes tourists and ex pats would not feel safe,as would the majority of Cypriots with British passports.
Europe, the USA regard the bases as an early warning system,Europe has never mentioned or got involved in the discussion over the bases.
Would they pack up,?,land value, more hotels ? where is the tourist industry ? UK,but it is getting less and less every year.
I have no real interest in what Cyprus does,it is your country, you should decide, but your people cannot aggree!!

Phoenix,we should all bow to your superior knowledge. It is a shame you have to lambast a people who have given you a home for thirty years, and asked for very little in return.
We as a country open our doors to all,we do not distinguish over colour of skin or religious background, and often end up been lambasted by the likes of yourself.
