Brittain has the most civilized and caring people you are likely to find in the world , it also has the most uncivilized and uncaring people and those are the Brits that make the news , the hooligans , single mothers uneducated relying on the state for hand outs producing kids right left and centre , mostly < and expecting society at large to take care of their offsprings , it also has a very large contingent of third world illiterate mostly immigrants , asylum seekers scroungers that hate our guts but love our benefits.
The most generous people you will come across are the British , the silent vast majority who do not go to Spain and seek out fish and chips , who do not come to Cyprus expecting hand outs from the government , but are solid citizens , orderly , civilized and caring . Our poor animals in Cyprus , if they could talk they would be singing God save the Queen because so much influence has been exerted by the Brits on animal welfare , also let me add here that many thousands of Cypriots , if not EVERY Cypriot has derived some sort of benefit by the presence of the Brits on our island.
As far as the British involvement with Cyprus as a British colony then the governments of the day were entirely responsible for much of the events that followed the 30s , 40s and 50s. Stubborn as mules , totaly absorbed in their own destiny , ignoring the plight of the people of Cyprus but at the same time acting entirely within the frame work of Empire Rule .
Let us also remember that the UK is the home of more than 250 thousand Cypriots .
Well said M. Funny how everyone is always quick to point out the bad points of another country, but very rarely accept the good. It is good to be patriotic but not obsessive and in so becoming blind to see the facts.
When we go abroad, we do not visit the chip shops etc. We taste the local cuisine, do the trips and try to learn a bit more about the country, the language and its culture. It was very wrong of Phoenix to generalise in such a way. The chip shops are there as the countries still think that is what the Brits want. Just like Cyprus they are 30 years out of date!!
I doubt your educational background Phoenix, but you should put it to better use and stop with the wild accusations. That in itself just tells me just how uneducated you are!

..... I've got you thinking haven't I?
What? No scathing reply/half witty riposte?
If you had spent so many years working in universities how come it is that you still do not fully comprehend the English language? I refer to an earlier post in which you said when talking about your mother - and this is not the exact quote - I cannot get her to stop, desist using the water? Why the need for two words with the same meaning when one is perfectly acceptable - or is that the Cypriot in you?

You don't read much, do you Bubbles?
