Moving to Cyprus

Postby daniel c » Tue Jan 22, 2008 12:28 pm

Hi, I would like to move to Cyprus, does anyone know if there are any jobs for welders or sheet metalworkers in Cyprus and what sort of money they earn.
Can anyone suggest where the best place to look for a job in Cyprus is?
What is the cost of living in Cyprus?, what would a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children need coming in to live comfortably?
How much is it to send children to English schools in Cyprus?
Or would you send them to a Cypriot school instead?
I am 35, my wife is 36, and the children are 4 & 7.

Thanks

As far as I know there are good jobs around for experienced craftsmen in the building industry. I guess you would get at least 1800 euro a month. But if you had to pay rent and also send your kids to private english schools I would say it is imposible to get by with that sort of money.

Daniel hi,to send your kids to private English schools is about £3000 cyp each, not cheap i would take care if you send them to a Greek school as i have had bad experiences as have several friends, as for cost of living it is cheaper then the UK but thats not hard, however it is getting more expensive here. I would be happy to offer any help to you

Hi Daniel,
Most Cypriot firms are family owned and operated so you may find it difficult to get a good job.

Why not have a look at the French company building the new Paphos and Larnaca Airports, a friend of mine works for them, earns good money and enjoys the benefits of a large European employer.

Daniel, there are about 38,924 posts on this very same subject…

Spend an hour using the search facility and get a basic feel about it then come back and ask some more specific questions.

However, the very best advice that you will find through a multitude of threads is to come here and try it – preferable for an extended period so that you can see if it really fits you.
