What is a clean partition ? where do you draw a line, who sacrifices what village, house. The property market is such that Turksh Cypriot villages like Silikou would be worth millions...

purdey, you should claim your house back. NOBODY can refuse you this.

piratis, you are on a very risky path my friend one that can bring bitter memories of division among the Greek nationals of this beautiful country.

No sorry,Public transport, buses, bus shelters.I believe Paphos built two bus shelters, and then it was inspected by the EU.The EU are wanting to reduce the amount of cars in Cyprus and put in a viable public transport system. The money was allocated for phase one a decent bus service between towns.
I do loose touch with the UK,I travel alot and rely on newspapers for news,Cyprus Mail is one.
Please tell me they are not going to build a highway to Troodos.

They are going to build a highway from Paphos to Polis (about time, too may people died there).
Also one halfway to Troodos (they will not touch the forest).

I really wonder how they are going to build a public transport system in this country. Other than a subway there is simply no space. And that is simply not financially viable in such a small country. As everything in Cyprus it is done for the needs of today and nobody in this country can see 10-20 years ahead. They build a road only to destroy it 5 years after because it is not big enough. Biggest example of all the "Mall of Cyprus" and the new general hospital and the traffic chaos they created.

I used the word "clean" in quotes for a reason. I did so to contrast it with the Annan plan kind of partition, where not only Cyprus would be officially split, but also it would create a dirty undemocratic and racist situation that would be totally dysfunctional and pron to more conflicts and bloodshed.

Silikou might worth millions, but GC villages like Lapithos would worth billions. So I don't see how that is related.

I have tried to be friendly and polite on this subject, but you seem very quick to criticise and correct if I ask a simple question. As a moderator I would of thought a more friendly approach maybe in order.
Partition, obviously means separating in some way shape or form,my question which obvoiusly was badly put, is how do you value land and property based on fluctuations on prices between North and South.
For instance does the Turkish Cypriot owner of Larnaca airport land recieve more than a counterpart who owns half of Famagusta beach.

Sorry Piratis but I have to agree with purdey on this one.
What if Lapithos then fall in the 18% or Kerynia. What do you tell the refugee from there.
Keep in mind that 18% is a sizable number, more than half of the northern occupied part.
If my memory serves me right the anna plan said something like 22% on one version and 28% on another with rights to be a minority on that, and we thought it was ridiculous.

Absolutely agree with political equality - one person, one vote, without outside interference, just like in the rest of our new Europe (outside Northern Ireland - now there's a thought). All enjoying equal political, human and property rights.
