This thread is to be used specifically for the preparation of the second part of the documentary, the events surrounding Independence, 1959/60.

Some questions I have about this period: How was the concept of "an independent state" welcomed by the majority of GCs and the majority of TCs? Were the people content with the specific terms of the specific constitution, or was there a popular resistance against the Zurich agreements?

What were Athens' and Ankara's views regarding the EOKA struggle and Cyprus's independence?
