Phoenix Rising in Paphos ....

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Is that the pine resin ..... I haven't seen any yet.

I do like Mastic from Chios though, although it does make the jaws ache (and I can't talk as much as I would like  ).

Even the Huba Buba doesn't keep its flavour for as long as the one in the UK did !

Has anyone found a Bubble Gum that keeps its flavour for more than 45 seconds? :?

Havent you re-discovered the traditional Baf Sakizi (Paphos Mastiki plus candle wax) yet? Great for your chewing muscles. The aroma so natural too.

It is a Geroskipou special but they have them now at all the kiosks as well. It is very similar to the Chios one.

Deniz, 'bissa Paphitiki' = 'Baf Sakizi'.

The more you chew the more the better for your 'Fonaklas' duties. If you shout enough you might scare the Turkish Soldiers OFF the island.

So the more I chew, the stronger my jaws become and the greater the likelihood the Turkish army will leave Cyprus?

OKAY . . . . . . I'm chewing as fast a I can

This is all on the assumption that they did not leave Turkey in the first place, to get away from some loud-mouthed Turkish fishwives

The weather has been great, the sea is on my doorstep, field and mountains behind.

Son loving the relaxed school atmosphere, although we keep missing the school bus and getting strange looks walking with the dog amidst a chorus of barking dogs as we pass each house.
The old fashioned peripato seems to have lost its appeal for some reason.

However, not all is great in Paradise ....... the Cypriot bubble gum loses its flavour too quickly :(

..... But rapidly discovering the wines :D

This Heaven on Earth surely cannot last . . . :?

Does some normality / acceptance / familiarity eventually settle in and Cyprus just becomes another place or is it always so thrilling? :D

It's over 6 months for me and still loving it!!

I am really looking forward to the summer now - having a swim in the pool when you feel like it, Souvla with friends outdoors, going to the beach, looking healthier with a bit of a tan, being able to predict the weather and plan things ahead..... wonderful! :D

Of course there are things you miss and things that annoy you but nowhere is perfect.

You're in the right place Phoenix mou (I know you like that phrase!), don't question it, just go with the flow! 8)

Not too much souvla mind - not good for the hips!!
