Or do you make it up as you go along ?

Purdey,

May I suggest you tell us everything that you have experienced during those times from '63 to '74, so that we can all get the feel of what you went through, rather than just telling us that you know all the nasty things that happened during those times. Some of us have written our experiences, so please, do the same. You do not need to write it all in one go. Just start in 1963 and finish in 1974 and take however much time you need to write it. Give it to us one page at a time if you like...thanks.

Happy writings.

Purdey,

We are still waiting to read your accounts in Cyprus between 1963-1974.!!

You are not having a "writers fright" by any chance.???

KİKAPU ,
What you wanna get by questioning the people. Talk about recent incidences that public is engage.

What do you think about Tennis player mate. ?

What do you think KARAMANLİS visit to Turkey and the way Greek
Fanatics actions against his visit ?

Good morning Halil,

I'm not questioning anyone Halil. Purdey made the claim he knows first hand what happened between 1963-1974 because he was in Cyprus and knows all the nasty things that went on, so I would like to read his account of events, that's all.

Don't you want to read Purdey's report Halil.??

The tennis player ( Marcos) has the right to say what ever he wants, as an individual, specially in a "private gathering". His statement represents himself and not anyone else's, although just by saying "Turks out of Cyprus" is no different than all the UN resolutions against Turkey. If TC's claim to be Turks and no longer TC's, then I can see why some TC's may have gotten upset. Since you raised the question Halil, do you consider yourself a Turk or a TC.?? I'm not upset by what Marcos said, because I consider myself a Cypriot as well as Turkish Cypriot, but not a TURK. If he said "Turkish Cypriots out of Cyprus", then I too would have kicked his butt.

Last time I looked, Freedom of Speech is still practiced in most part of the civilized world, so what's all the excitement about.??

It's about time the "Guarantor Powers" met. I like the idea of Karamanlis going to Turkey, as long as they are not brewing any ideas on how to screw the Cypriots again.!! I guess since Brown is not there, they can't do too much damage on their own!!

As for the Fanatics Halil, well, you know how I feel about Fanatics. I have to deal with them all the time here on the forum.

In a word, I'll say, screw the fanatics. They are always the losers in the history of mankind. They do their worse and then get their butts kicked by True Democracy.

Have a nice day Halil.

  VIVA LA Democracy..........Don Greek colours and sing the Greek national Anthem and claim to be a Cypriot.........   What a guy

Not writers fright, but maybe a pointless excercise. There is little point in trying to explain what I and my family went through.I will be lambasted by both sides for either been a Turkish lover or a Cypriot lover.
Suffice to say we had friends and neighbours on both sides of the island who lost evreything not because they were Turkish or Cypriot but because they were CYPRIOT.

Now there is a thought...there was a project in Northern England a few years ago when 5,000 English people were DNA tested to find out the history of there original roots. Not suprising 98% were not pure English.
Maybe the same could be explored in Cyprus,I wonder ? maybe then you may realise you are not that different after all....
I believe a recent Archbishop of Cyprus had the same views..

It is not a pointless exercise at all Purdey. You claim to poses valuable information during that era of 1963-1974, so lets hear it. People can tell the genuine events from fake ones, so please give us the courtesy to judge for ourselves. There are many TC's and GC's who are very compassionate people on the forum and will commiserate with you for all the nasty things that you have witnessed since most have only read in books or just hearsay. Lets hear it from you directly.

Zan Zan Zan. I have always told you for over a year ago, that anytime you want to work towards ONE Cyprus, you can count on me to do what ever you want to achieve it. However, when it comes to Partition or anything totally Racist and Undemocratic, forget it.!

Then stop toeing the GC party line because that is what has caused he partition and the fact that it will become permanent soon if not already.......I know you mean well but

Kirpau. It is all still there.I am sure you are aware of what was regarded as the Turkish area of Limassol.I am also sure you are aware of the people who left or were taken away from that area.I am sure you are also aware that there were three Englsh families living in that area.I am sure you are aware there was door to door fighting in and around that area.I am sure that you are aware that the British curfew was broken on many occassions and the British turned a blind eye to what went on.
Maybe my choice of words were not correct when asking the question,I appologise if that has upset you.
I have always tried to be impartial on this subject, never apportioning blame, but growing up in Cyprus has given me some insight.

Sorry for the add,but I never said my imformation was valuable, just we lived there, and sarcasm does not become you.

This might help you a little Purdey.

A study carried out in 1990 examined the blood samples of 116 TCs,303GCs,235 Mainland Turks and 174 mainland Greeks. This was done in the USA by DrErol Baysal under the supervision of Professor Huisman (an American) and with contributions of English, turkish,Cypriot and Greek scientists.

The result showed that DNA genes of the TCS and GCs were not as close as expected to their respective "motherlands"Turkey and Greece, but belonged to the same Cypriot gene pool which was not similar to any gene pool in the region.
"This was normal and expected," said Dr Baysal," and could be explained by the fact that Cyprus was an island community".

This study was published in "the British Journal of Haematology" in 1992.
Dr Erol Baysal is a DNA expert with similar studies in many parts of the world including Europe,Asia,Middle East,Far East,North Africa, and the USA.

He was born in Nicosia in 1960,studied in England and America, and was once the head of DNA section of the biggest Thalasemmy centre in the USA.
