So, how are people finding the new Euro currency?

So, how are people finding the new Euro currency?

Postby Pumpy » Sun Jan 20, 2008 8:46 pm

Any closer to figuring out just how badly you were being ripped off under the old currency? Or still blithely and blissfully unaware of the state of pricing and supply and demand economics?

I know the sun and good weather must be a sop for many things, but I like to hold to the following adage wherever I go in life:

A fool and his money are easily parted.

Oh well, must be nice to not care about being ripped every day. At least it must be good for the old blood pressure!

Bye now!

You grumpy bastard.

I could have been worse. I could have pointed out the undeniable fact that prices have been rounded up by anything up to a third under the new currency!

Ah, the good ol days of calculating costs by taking into account a 20% increase on Sterling!

The only ripping off I have experienced is the unfortunate situation of Stirling faring soooo badly against the Euro just when I am offloading my pence  .

Oh well, my loss for staying loyal to old Blighty for too long.

Someone needs to bail the UK out of the Victorian era ......

Fantastic! More amateur economics from people whose knowledge of the subject could be collectively placed within the confines of the casing of a Walnut, with much room to spare.

The Sterling is falling against the Euro...because of the impending recession. Which in effect, will mean all currencies will become weaker eventually under the stresses of inflation.

What does this mean? It means people on piss poor salaries in countries like Cyprus will suffer more, in proportion to those in countries like the UK, with far bigger salaries.

Which is why I'm doing this  while people on shitty 'wages' like £500 a month (piss take) are doing this

I go by reality, the here and now Pumpy.

Your predictions and speculations although all doom and gloom, mean as much as gambling does to me. Basically, fodder for fools and desperadoes.

We could be obliterated by a meteor tonight . . . . that has as much logic and likelihood as your sooth-sayings

No sooth saying pal, if you keep an eye on the press (British press, not the rubbish Cypriot tat) you'll notice that we are on an inexorable march towards a world recession. Which will bite Cyprus hard. And I mean hard. Particularly for those poor docile unfortunates who have invested in property! (And my, what a disgraceful con market that is. The prices are almost that of London and the South East of England)

Keep praying, my fine bubble-accompanied ones.

Sorry Pumpy, but the bigger they are the harder they fall and the UK is much bigger than Cyprus . . . . and they don't even have the sunny weather to stop them feeling suicidal when things turn bad

Well, I'll give the Cypriots one thing. Even when they are at 'work', they spend virtually no time actually 'working', the lazy bastards. If you add up the amount of time they spend slaving away at work, discounting weekends which are sacked off, Wednesdays and massive siesta breaks, it amounts to the same length of time I spend filling my motor up with petrol each week.

The only people who do any real work are the fucking Phillipinos and the Eastern Europeans who are disgracefully used as slave labour by the arrogant too-big-for-their boots locals.

Oh well, when they all bugger off, it'll collapse like a house of cards in a fart storm.

Well played, Cypriots. Well played.
