Most Cypriots have been outside of Cyprus. Many Cypriots also study abroad and this spending years of their lives abroad. purdey in this forum which is Cyprus Forum and not English forum I hear many times English people complaining on how England is full with foreigners. The difference is that they know that everybody speaks English so they are more careful in what they say in public places and they keep the nasty comments when they are in private places that they are sure nobody will hear what they say

I personally like multi-culturism... I like diversity... but in such a small place like Cyprus it puts Cypriots at a disadvantage which I can then fully understand the frustration.

10% of the population in Cyprus are not Cypriots and this does not include the couple of million of tourists we have every year and not even the illegal immigrants. I think Cyprus is very multi-cultural.

So there is some negative thoughts there.Hey I am not critical of Cyprus or it's nationals,I was just wanting to find out why the sudden change in thoughts.

some opiniond are valid some are not,,,we do have a xenophobe culture,,,i wouldnt call it racism of any kind but we do have that.....however i cannot accept the the brits are alla saints...lets get real guys...i 've been studying living in the UK for 7 years...and although some people here in the UK are very good polite and i have many friends.. etc,,, some are the opposite.,..how many times did i hear the " bloody foreigners" phrase, "go back to your country" etc etc...not to mention racisit attacks agaisnt muslims,hindu/indian population? when did you hear of racists/hate crimes by people/youth in cyprus?

and windsurfrush are you serious? what does UK have to offer? money-ok agreed--if the taxes,mortgage,commuting dont take 85 % of it..,,,sun? nope.none at all..quality of life...nope... enjoy your work- not when you commute for 2-3 hours a day in packed trains and buses...danger.?,..hell yeah... how many people get attacked at night in the UK and how many do in cyprus?

the youth in the UK? dont ge tme started...are the same as in cyprus? a bunch of low-lifes with no parental guidance whatsover that all they do is smoke pot, swear at old people and cause trouble ...templates for future criminals....
so maybe cyprus has some bad points but please the rest of the world --dont pretend you are all saint's-well educated anc cultured people which in reality your are worse.than we are... thanks..

I agree,I would prefer my daughter to be brought up in Cyprus.The Uk has an appaling reputation,racist,drink culture,loss of values.I cannot go out on a Friday or Sat night for a meal and a drink with my family (in any major town or city),unless I wan't to be accosted by drunken youths.
In Cyprus I do not worry about my daughter,in the village she is perfectly safe even after dark,Limassol and other major towns do not feel threatening,and eating out as a family is the norm.

well it is a fact...maybe if you hear some youths say bad things about foreingrers etc and you talk back to them in greek as a fellow member mentioned they get embarrased and you all become freinds...

try doing that in england.,,,to the the youths you'll end up in hospital,,,,
