The Thread Where You Are Only Allowed to *Agree*

Postby Pumpy » Fri Jan 18, 2008 12:40 am

Right, you petulant, ill-educated lot. And I'm talking about GCs and TCs.

I'm sick and tired of your whinging and pissing and moaning. And I'm sick of reading reams of propaganda and biased stats and non-facts and general bullshit, so it's time you listened to the Pumpy.

Put down your weird stupid overpriced fucked up frozen coffee drinks (repulsive beverages and I've no idea why Cypriots like them) and learn.

My task today is thus.

I want you to engage in discussion, regarding the name sake of this here forum. I.e. The Cyprus Problem. Except the golden rule (and if you break it, I'll be pissed. So watch it) is that you are only permitted to write things that you concede to the other side. Concilliatory words. Admissions of guilt and responsibility. Areas of agreement.

No argument, no insults, no name calling, no baiting, nothing that could be construed as a disagreement. If you disagree, ignore this thread. Otherwise you're clearly a stubborn retard.

I'll kick proceedings off with this:

Undeniable fact number one:

Regardless of any notion of provocation and justification, and regardless of any insinuation of guilt concerning human rights abuses, the Turks must accept and agree that in 1974, the mainland government invaded the Island of Cyprus, thereby killing, displacing and removing people from their homes.

Undeniable fact number two:

During the 60s and 70s, the far-Right in the newly formed Republic of Cyprus caused political instability by violence, political intimidation and the pursuit of an extremist policy (enosis) which acted as a catalyst for the disastrous events of 1974.

What I want to see now, is people of various views offering even the smallest sign of agreement. Or, posing their own comments which offer cause for unity to the usual natural opposition.

I'll cut the bullshit - I want to see GCs and TCs being nice to eachother.

Now get the fuck on with it, before I lose my patience.

Ok *fume*

this is the first and last exception to the rule. And believe me, if I were modding, I'd BAN yo ass for insolence.

Firstly, how can you disagree with a complete, unequivocal fact in that Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974? That's a bit like saying, Winston Churchill was never PM of Britain. Why are you fucking around?

Second, are you saying that the invasion was the first invasion EVER in the history of the globe and beyond, where territory was taken, yet no-one was displaced and no-one died?

What the fuck is the matter with you?

You're barred.

It sounds like you already lost it.

If you're going to ask one side to admit to kiiling the other (in this case the Turks doing the killing in '74), than you should probably ask the other to admit their killing too (the GCs with whatever they did in the '60s and '70s before '74 to the Turks). I don't know much, but I can safely bet that they killed at least one TC. "Killing" is a much stronger word than "violence," and if you're going to be successful, you should get each side to fess up to the same degree. In truth and reconciliation debates, the numbers killed by each side don't matter as much as each side admitting what they did, honestly.

In one side's view, one of theirs killed might equal 200 of the ones they killed on the other side.

In which case, they'd probably be a National Socialist.

Your post is odd, because you seem to intonate a vague agreement with my task, yet undermine your effort by being obtuse and pedantic.

My position is simple. Both sides have blame, both have done wrong...now let's focus on areas of concilliation and agreement.

My references to bad coffee beverages is simply in the spirit of the discussion. Both TCs and GCs have odd tastes in drinks.

If you want to discuss frozen coffee, I'd be delighted. So long as it's about agreeing shit.

Excellent!! 8)

At last, someone understands the basic principle of this thread.

Now, any chance of someone accepting blame on issues slightly more serious than caffeine based liquid refreshments?

Do I have any offers on buried buses or abducted prisoners of war?

Going once....going twice......

Both sides committed wrongs. Two wrongs don't make a right.
