The Thread Where You Are Only Allowed to *Agree*

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Excellent!! 8)

At last, someone understands the basic principle of this thread.

Now, any chance of someone accepting blame on issues slightly more serious than caffeine based liquid refreshments?

Do I have any offers on buried buses or abducted prisoners of war?

Going once....going twice......

POKKA IS NICE! i could drink it all day

In that case going going against Nazi Germany was also wrong.

No one should have stopped Saddam either?

Idi Amin should have been left alone to do what he wanted?

Mugabe?

Serbs in Kosovo?

Bush in Afghanistan, Iraq and soon Iran?

Let everyone do what they want to without anyone lifting a finger to stop their murdering and genociding the weaker because like you said, two wrongs don't make a right.

I agree with Eric. The Turks are like the Nazis. The invaded our island because Cyprus is small and weak. We just defended our island.

That above line is going to get a lot of unwelcome attention, Sotos. Particularly from those who viewed the Turkish intervention as the only way to stop a planned ethnic cleansing of Turkish Cypriots from the island - as Nicos Sampson had openly admitted to.

Now, the above rationale for the invasion/intervention/liberation (take your pick) is the obstensive reason given by Turkey. Of course, the failure of those forces to withdraw after the collapse of the coup d'etat means that there were other reasons.

It was the Greeks and Greek Cypriots who acted like the Nazis and it was Turkey who stepped in and stopped an attempted genocide on us TCs, just like the Allied troops stepped in to stop the Nazis. You Greeks and Greek Cypriots should not have tried to follow the Nazis footsteps if you didn't want your arses kicked.

Ok this is what I think. What is done is done. GC killed TC, TC killed GC, hell that was before I was even born.
Enosis ... damn that was like 50 years ago. Newsflash to Turkey, enosis has been finalized with international acceptance for the whole island in 2004 when CY joined the EU. It's not even a subject to discuss any more.
How did that affect the TC? Nothing happened.
TC living legally on the south have all the rights they need and deserve.
The proposed solutions in my opinion eventually will result to a new 1974 so better separated instead of that.
And yes I agree with the no voters that the Anan plan was a recipe for disaster.
Lets be realistic, GC are some 78% and TC are some 18%. Anyway you put it they are a minority. You cannot possibly run a state 50-50 and be an 18% minority.
In my opinion both GC and TC need to understand that they are Cypriots. Find a solution that does not involve Turkey, does not involve Greece and mostly does not involve anyone who had never had any business in Cyprus ie UK.
The ideal solution is to have a unified state with a parliamentary demogracy, similar to the one in Greece and Turkey. The GC are 78% they have 78% of the parliament, TC are 18% they have 18% of the parliament. Parties should be joined as well with the same percentages. No TC or GC parties.
GC have no reason to violate the rights of TC. As Armenians, Maronites etc enjoy equal rights on the South I don't see why TC should not or won't. What would be the point. Hell the president of the party supporting the current president is from a minority group.
In any case the EU should safeguard these rights for both sides in the worst case scenario that there is a violation. That is already safeguarded by the EU constitution (treaty) that is above the current constitution of the Republic of Cyprus.
So unless one of the 2 communities has a different agenta I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Yes utu, there were reason and those reasons are still alive in South Greek Cyprus. You know as well as anyone else does that those reasons are still to this day are the sole intention of the GCs namely to achieve a Greek ruled island and be able to achieve their ENOSIS "legally"
without intervention from Turkey or us TCs.

As long as the GCs stay with their dream of being the sole rulers of Cyprus Turkey has a very, very good reason to stay in the TRNC to insure
the TCs safety by preventing another genocide attempt by the Greeks and GCs on us TCs. The Turkish Army's intervention and presence is the ONLY reason why TCs still exist in Cyprus and partition will ensure that we are not eliminated with further attempts on our lives.

Or do you, or anyone else really believe/s the lies of the GCs that we are all "Cypriots"?

Eric dayi, do you actually believe that the GC with their prosperity, their expesive cars, their 1000m2 houses care about killing TC? How will they do the genocide? In a proposed solution the National Guard will be dismandled and all weapons destroyed. How will they kill TC, with their Bentleys and their Porsches?
