So let me get this straight ... Turks have invaded Cyprus. 30+ year on they are still occupying 30% oF the country. They expelled some 200,000 people from their homes, killed around 5000 people, some 1500 people still missing, destroyed churches, burial grounds, raped etc. And we have to be careful not to offend them !!!
A lot of very colorful words come in mind but just to keep it civilized " YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME !!!"

shahmaran, what is there to shout for on your side (I assume you are a Turk) ... You are the invaders, you are the occupators. It would simply be idiotic on your side to shout anything as you risk an international backlash since the evidence are undeniable.
By the way I'm Bulgarian of Greek origin and I can guarantee you that Turks are far from innocent in any part of the world that is neighboring them. Same thing you have done to Cyprus you attempted to do in Bulgaria (thank God for Soviet Union you were not successful) you are now trying to do in Northern Greece etc.
The excuse that the occupation is necessary to protect your rights is simply bull ... Cyprus is part of the EU the UN and every other single organization that protects human rights, minority rights etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the president of the party supporting the current president of the Republic of Cyprus is from a minority group much smaller than yours, isn't that right? Also I was told that one of the most prestigious high schools in the Republic of Cyprus is solely for the same minority group.
In my honest opinion the situation is like this. Cyprus is Greek and has been before Turkey, before Bulgaria or even before the old continent Europe even thought of existing. This you need to realize and understand it.
On the other hand though you have been there for some 400 years and you have a sizable minority. Your rights need to be respected same as the Armenians, the Maronites, the British, the Russians etc.
I don't really understand what rights you are so worried that will be violated. The right to speak your language? You are occupying them and they still have it as an official language of their country. Have you seen the Cypriot Euro coins (Kipris). Your right for religion? Mosques on the South of the country are perfectly preserved (compare to churches on the north). Your right to Turkish education? As mentioned above one of the most prestigious high schools in the Republic is solely run from a minority group. Why would they deny it to you? And in the worst case scenario that they do sue them in the European court of Justice.

Oh, and some more things that when I was living in Cyprus as an EU citizen I was not allowed to and the Turks who are occuping the country were allowed ...
You get free health care, costing the Greeks millions of Euros. You get social security. You can be employed in the public sector. I'm sure I'm missing quite a few other idiotic things that the Greeks do. I'm an EU citizen and I was not allowed to all these. You became EU citizens without doing jack sh**. You can use the Euro as citizens of the Republic without breaking a sweat. You are occuping them and you get everything.
Sorry to say but Greeks in Cyprus are sometimes very stupid and they kiss your ass all the time for what ??
So again what human rights are you worried about ???

Why don't you just say things the way they are? Turkey does not want Greece on its south border because in the event of a conflict it would force the Turkish army to overstreach. From Cyprus Turkey has control of the eastern mediteranean thus not allowing the slightly more powerful Greek fleet to control its southern costline. Among other that I'm sure everybody knows .

The fact that the Greeks were here before us means NOTHING! The "indigenous"argument has been exhausted many times here and it takes us no where. To be honest greek75 i am from the TRNC and i am not an EU member nor i give 2 shits about what is going on in the south, free health care whatever bollocks you want to whine about i don't have it, so what is your point? We cant do jack shit here because it is not possible to do much in a country that is not recognized by anyone, so shut the fuck up and if you don't like it then fuck off back to your county, we have enough racist Greeks around here as it is, don't need anymore!

And i have seen your lovely Bulgaria shit hole of a country too, ENOUGH TIMES! You think we haven't done anything to get into the EU, what the fuck are you a comedian? Don't even start to compare.
