Why are you in Cyprus/what brought you here?

Postby Spetz » Wed Jan 16, 2008 4:21 pm

Just wondering, why are non-Cypriots in Cyprus
What brought you here, what makes you stay, why here and not somewhere else etc
Please limit the answers to people who have migrated from overseas only

Thanks

My son is half Cypriot and half Scottish, born in the UK, so I don't know how relevant this would be.

He's only been at the school this week but already had several classmates calling round for him to play, and today he was invited to a birthday party. There are mixed / other race kids in his class, Bulgarian, Brits etc. He has loved it and is raving about how friendly all are.

His school in the UK had a number of severe racist incidents and was rife with bullying. It was looked on as part of the UK public school culture.

We left the UK after a month of fog and rain . . . . and have had health restoring mild weather so far :D

I am however turning a strange colour, as I am living on a diet of oranges and mandarins, because all the neighbours keep dropping off bagfuls of freshly picked, irresistible fruit several times a day

All the services have been connected faultlessly and each service-person has spent the time to stop and chat.

I am afraid Cyprus is for those that want to live life to the full and participate in Humanity. Sometimes that's perplexing for the unwary.

what safe environment? remember 1974? what makes you think that won't happen again? or that something nuclear won't happen in the middle east. your are all screwed if there is some nuclear accident. people drive like maniacs, in my week stay i saw two accidents in one day. and i read the posts on this forum, and get the impression there is no government agencies overseaing things like contractors doing good business practices, or that people poison other people's pets, and now i find out about land mines in CY?!!! CY is a tiny little defensless island. i sure as hell wouldn't feel safe in Cyprus. not at all.

Mr Niki's specialist told him that moving to Cyprus because of the better climate would ease symptoms after an accident. Limassol because there are a larger number of English Curriculum schools and despite the rubbish driving, in general crime rates and safety for my girls is much better than the UK.

Oh and like it/Aeroplane.
