The banknotes & coins of the banana Republic of Turkey.

Postby BC Numismatics » Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:13 pm

Here's a section that will be of interest to the numismatists here. Please feel free to discuss about the banknotes & coins of the banana Republic of Turkey, which has been circulating illegally in northern Cyprus since 1974.

The Turkish Lira used to have the distinction of being the world's most worthless currency,as there were notes for several million Lira.

Since 2005,a currency reform has been carried out in which 100 Yeni Kurus (New Kurus) = 1 Yeni Lira (New Lira).

Please feel free to post photos.

Aidan.

Yawn

It's nice to have a hobby aida but sometimes it becomes a obsession .

I'm sure you wouldn't like to constantly hear about my various motorcycle restorations or my huge coin collection on a Cyprus forum.

I wonder how many numismatists there are on this forum
