Why don't you tell us what would have happened to the TCs under Klerides. Klerides was always loving the Tcs in fact he is the one who saved Denktashes life.

Sampson:"Had Turkey not intervened I would not only have proclaimed 'enosis,'I would have annihilated the Turks in Cyprus." Eleftherotipia, Feb. 26,1981

What else did you expect Sampson to say VP. That was his last departing "shot" 7 years after the fact lobbed at the Cypriots to continue his Enosis dream by keeping us apart. It was his revenge for the GC's for not supporting his long awaited Enosis dream. No body else wants to continue with his Enosis dream, except of course, the Partitionist such as yourself by keeping Samson's dream alive. I would say, that Samson is more admired by you than most GC's. Why would you want to quote him otherwise, other than carry on with his Enosis Dream with your hateful remarks in most of your posts, so that you can carry on with your Taksim Dream.

You can twist and turn, shake yourself upside down but the bottom line is the coup was the last drop that gave Turkey the green light to move in and resolve the TCs suffering from 1964 onwards. Why don't you ask the GCs why TCs were not treated the same as GCs, why were we second class citizens, why did they burn our houses down? why did they make a large section of my community refugees? Kindly display to the forum that you a TC by starting to ask GC questions and challenge their responses or is it the you are only interested in spouting out you hatred for anything Turkish, supporting GC ideology and telling we are wrong for wanting to live in peace without being dominated by a hostile community still (Piratis) seeking vegence for what the Ottomans did 400 years ago but for what happened in 34 years ago.

Please start to show some impartiality as your credibility is at an all time low with TCs, only a couple of TCs living in diaspora will support your arguments, ho yes and the GCs as you argue their corner with grit and determination.

Perhaps you have missed it, but I always asked the question as to why Turkey did not intervened in 1963 to help us TC from those living conditions we were put into. The question of course is, who put us in those conditions and situation. Yes it is true that the GC's did take part, but how about our own people. Did they really do all they could to prevent those events from happening, or was it the case to create such bad conditions, for Turkey to come later on to give Taksim to us. I hold both sides responsible to what has happened in Cyprus. Please do not pretend this is the first time you have heard me say this. There was no reason as to why between 1969-1974 we could not have gone to our homes. There was no violence and the Enosis aspiration by the majority of the GC's was no longer there, or else the 1974 coup would not have taken place by bunch of criminals both in Cyprus and in Greece. Turkey had a second chance to create the conditions for a peaceful settlement for the TC's and GC's right after the Coup failed, but Turkey chose another option supported by Denktash and the Gang, to give us the mess we have today.

...anyway VP, on this one I think kikapu is spot on. And I too find it pitiful that you would give so much credence to an individual such as Sampson; your signature. Being a part of a majority, or likening yourself to be a representative of some majority, I would have expected from you as a choice something inspirational, someone who is less hated by Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots alike. ...I can easily go so far as to say someone hated by all members of Humanity, and an enemy to those of Mankind who seek its betterment. He is a failure by many measures, and on many levels a traitor; you choosing him to mentor others is more revealing, rather than wit.

(hope my english is easy enough to read this time, but it seems that you are getting much better.)
i still believe you make a huge difference view, you have compassion, but i still hope you will join with people like me, that you can embrace a future which ends this nature of fear you compel to flourish.

He respresented your dream of enosis and the wholesale clearence of the only obstacle the TCs. Just because he did not suceed he was condemned if he did suceed you would have deemed him a national hero.

I have my own viewpoint and its what I believe in, I want peace and tranquility which we have been enjoying for 34 years, why spoil it?

he failed because he did not have, or gain popular support from any constituency except the junta and the interlocutors. are you taking this hypothesis of yours as something more than fact? i could care less if he could have suceeded, you like him, must face reality.

Can I ask you this: had Sampson succeeded and enosis acheived, would you have welcomed it, regretted it, or opposed it?

He was just one of the instigators of your enosis dream for which you proudly boast 99.9% of the GCs supported. Now you are saying he had nothing to do with you please make up your mind as 11 years of suffering due to your hidden agendas is well documented and your claims of non support sound unfounded.

Angus Reid Global Monitor : Polls & Research
Three Candidates Tied in Greek Cyprus Race
January 18, 2008
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Next month’s presidential election in Greek Cyprus is too close to call at this point, according to a poll by Noverna published in Politis. 30.5 per cent of respondents would vote for Ioannis Kasoulides, 30.3 per cent would re-elect incumbent Tassos Papadopoulos, and 29.1 per cent would back Dimitris Christofias.

Marios Matsakis is a distant fourth with two per cent, and 8.1 per cent of respondents are undecided.

The presidential election in Greek Cyprus is scheduled for Feb. 17. If no candidate garners more than 50 per cent of all cast ballots, a run-off would take place a week later.

Papadopoulos won the 2003 election with 51.5 per cent of the vote. He has been endorsed by the Democratic Party (DIKO), the Movement of Social Democrats (EDEK) and the European Party (EvroKo). Christofias is the president of the House of Representatives and secretary general of the left-wing Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL). Kasoulides, a former foreign minister, is backed by the opposition Democratic Rally (DISY). Matsakis, a controversial member of the European Parliament who served time in jail for allegedly spray painting anti-British slogans on a military base, announced his candidacy on Dec. 28.

In 2006, Greek Cypriot voters renewed the House of Representatives. Final results gave AKEL and DIKO 29 seats in the legislative branch, enough to guarantee that Christofias would preside the chamber.

Relations between the Greek majority and the Turkish minority in Cyprus have been frayed since 1974, when a Greek-sponsored attempt to seize the government was met by military intervention from Turkey. In the skirmish, the Turks gained control of almost two-fifths of the island, which in 1983 declared itself the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The Turkish government has never acknowledged the Greek Cypriot administration. More than 30,000 Turkish soldiers occupy the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

On Jan. 2, Turkish Cypriot president Mehmet Ali Talat suggested that Papadopoulos’ re-election could hamper efforts to solve differences between the two sides of the island, saying, "Since he refuses to share political power with us, and refrains from dialogue, it is obvious that Papadopoulos will eventually lead the island to permanent partition."

viewpoint, who are you talking to, a vast audience of shadows? certainly you are not talking to me. is the blood of your brothers dripping from their mouths, hungry because you are the last "Turk" standing?

are you living in a bordertown where the homemade rockets rain on your head, or where a fighter jet kills at least one of 'you' every day?

is there a reason for your hysteria?

as for you utu, having fun musing?

Hypothetically, had Sampson 'won', you would have seen an even greater military horror, we can assume. many more attrocities would have occured, as like minded people, like viewpoint and "Greek Cypriot" individuals like him went off to do the things that they do best. promoting the fear they are so good at, ignoring their own Humanity, lusting for themselves the 'power', while they plunder, rape, slaughter, and deny.

but, we who are Cypriots, grecophone or "Turk", are from a different stock, not unlike any other people on this planet, and the result stares at you in the face... and still, your fight is a fight against ghosts from a pretty mythology. Instead, i suggest that this is not a fight of "Nations", one against the other, it is a fight of good people against the bad.

...oh yes, ENOSIS is won, EOKA is no more, and like 99.9% of island dwellers, turcophone and grecophone (as well), we look forward to this union with Greece, as proud members of a European State.
