The Turkish premier also said that it is wrong to identify South Cyprus as ‘Cyprus’ within the European Union.

Why is it Mr Erdogan wants to use now the UN? Why does he want to do as they say?

Because from memory, the UN also told him to leave cyprus, take his troops and give back that which he stole, but he doesn't want to listen to that.

Oh yes, I remember, Turkeys only wants to pic and choose what the UN says.As long as they give her what she wants, she is happy to oblige.

Dream on Mr Erdogan, remember the gambarini agreement? Why don't you follow that, or was it not to your liking.

Ha ha you guys are such clowns.

Of course he wants to use the UN frameworks, because UN means the exclusion of the EU acquis, and thus no human rights for GCs. The usual formula is at work, what is yours is mine and what is mine is mine. Another intellectual giant at work!

Silly statement. As silly as if I were to write that Greek speaking Cypriots had been silenced every time a Greek politician opened his mouth about Cyprus at an international conference.

I don't think Cypriots of any type can be kept silent.

It seems Kikapu is right. Turkey does not want a clear cut partition. They want a disguised one.

Erdogan is a hypocrite, just like the Nazi scumbag called the Pope of Rome! The Turkish Government is lying to the world once again,as Turkey should realise that they're not wanted in Cyprus.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who is currently in Spain to attend the Alliance of Civilizations Forum has stated that the European Union has no logical answer to the question why Turkey has not yet become a member of the Union.

Mr. Erdogan’s words came during a meeting he attended at the Madrid Intercontinental Hotel which was organized by Europa Press Agency last night.

Stating that countries which did not fulfill the Copenhagen and Maastricht criterions had became full members of the European Union, Mr. Erdogan said these countries are trying to prevent Turkey’s membership with political reasons.

“South Cyprus which does not fit the Copenhagen and Maastricht criterions is one of these countries” he added.

Stating that South Cyprus has been accepted to the EU as the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Erdogan however said there is no political ground for this.

Commenting on the EU’s statement envisaging that negotiation chapters will not be closed with Turkey before solving the Cyprus problem, he said although it is South Cyprus which is abstaining from sitting at the negotiating table Turkey is being punished by the EU.

Stressing that North Cyprus will never be a minority of South Cyprus, he said Turkey as a guarantor power on the island would never say yes to anything unjust.
