Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that there is not a similarity between the Cyprus issue and Kosovo.
The Turkish premier also said that it is wrong to identify South Cyprus as ‘Cyprus’ within the European Union.
Mr Erdogan is in Spain to attend the first forum of the Alliance of Civilizations Project- which is jointly headed by Turkey and Spain.
Speaking during a breakfast organized by the Europa Press in the Spanish capital Madrid, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Cyprus problem should be solved within the framework of the United Nations, however he added that it is hard to understand European Union’s decision on Turkey’s EU membership process.
Mr Erdogan also accused the Greek Cypriot Side of being intransigent in efforts to solve the Cyrpus problem.

The opening of the first forum which will kick off in Madrid tomorrow will be made by Mr Erdogan, his Spanish counterpart Jose Luis Zapatero, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and the High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations- Jorge Sampaio.
On his departure for Spain, Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan stated that his visit to Spain will be based on discussions on bilateral relations as well as the latest developments in regional and international arenas.
The Alliance of Civilizations Project was introduced by Turkey and Spain and is being implemented under the UN guidance.
The project aims to provide an international platform in order to help participants develop joint initiatives and forge partnerships on various fields.
350 representatives from more than 70 countries are attending the first Alliance of Civilizations Forum in Madrid.
Among those attending the 2-day Forum are political leaders, representatives of international and regional organizations, donor agencies and civil society groups.
World-famous Hollywood stars George Clooney and Angelina Jolie, and the Nobel Price winner- Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk and Paulo Coelho will also attend the Forum.
