Strange...didn't see SKyNews reporting this.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No children involved. These houses were lived in by male adults from Iraq.

They were paid by the SBA's on a weekly basis and were working in Paphos during the week. They also enjoyed Free medical, education, housing (electricity& water) By the way no Taxes paid to the RoC.

Who is to tell me that these people are not bringing over other illegal immigrants into Cyprus under pay?

Do not believe everything the press says !!!

The houses about to be knocked down include 40 people of which 22 are under the age of 16. as far as i'm concerned they are the SBA's problem and should be treated in a humane way. Their answer to this problem has been to show them the way to the govt areas....

Very wrong, as i mentioned above do not believe everything the media states. This is for the single adults from iraq and not for the rest who have families living in the same complex, area.

Get the facts right

Pantheman wrote (about the BBC's reporting of the border opening in '03)
Website news, come on FFS, you call this headlines. Whatver happened to the BBC news on the tele where everyone has it. Websites are not seen by most people, certainly not the older ones.

So I say again, no headlines, my definition of not being on the national news.

I gave you the day's website because I have no sound/vision recording of the BBC's reporting that day.
All I can say, living in Cyprus, is that I first heard about the border opening on my car radio listening to the BBC world service, and later saw pictures on BBC World's TV news of the crowds at the Ledra Palace Crossing.
If you are refering to the BBC's broadcast in UK, I can't comment, although it would surprise me if it didn't get a mention as a minor news item, which to most British viewers is exactly what it would be, a minor news item.
