Since anychanges on this land registry are not reflected on the registry in the north then you cannot buy or sell land in the north. The north land registry is not the recognised land registry of the island.

Thanks DT, I am aware. No 'illegalities' from me.

If a GC has land in the occupied areas, is he free to sell this land?

Assuming he has the title deeds of course.

If a TC has land in the free areas is he allowed to sell as well?

Are there any rules the regulate what can and can't be done?

Where can one find the official standing on this please ?

Any info would be appreciated.

Why you so keen to know?

I wanted to know because i was asked by someone (no names ok) a GC, that his GC friend has some land to sell in the north. I told him I didn't think it was possible, but he said he was told that a GC can sell to a GC or European national. I wanted to check the detail.

I asked about the TC, just to see if what was good for the goose was also good for the gander.

So, are you saying a GC cannot sell directly to a GC without going to the so called property commission.

Is there a gov website that gives an official version. Not that I disbelieve what has been said, only to show further down the line if you get my gist.

Thanks all for the replies.

I am a EU national, so if I can find a willing GC, would he/can he sell to meor swap with me? How do I approach the situation. Through the RoC or the Northern Administration/ solicitors?

Deniz, if you are talking to me, then I am informed that if you hold a passport from an european nation you can buy it.

Its alot of land. i don't think he wants to swap just sell. I would suspect a trip to the land registry, but don't know for sure, hence the asking.

Anyone know where to findout?

This is my experience of "The Immovable Property Commission" and their address Pantheman.
