AVG is actually a very very good program. Used to use that in the old days, but found it was a little heavy on the preformance. Never tried the paid version of AVG, which I'm assuming has a better responce time. Was certainly good at catching virus'.

You have to pay for the non-free AVG! Only joking.....

I have just got a new laptop computer which had Norton 360 installed for a free year. I instantly uninstalled it and installed AVG free and paid for a good anti spyware program also. The free version of Adaware is also excellent value and finds lots of nasties. Norton are really money grubbing anyway. Just try renewing online for twice what it costs to buy a new program from the shop.

I am finally working with F-Secure Internet Security. And it's really better than other for me. Not slowing down but catching everything!

I use NOD32 for 2 years now and I am very happy with it. Check out this website for comparisons between antivirus programs: http://www.av-comparatives.org/ This is the last report: http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/e ... 007_11.php

Pyrpolizer, thanks for this. I just punted Norton in favor of BitDefender. Computer no longer takes 15 minutes to boot, system doesn't hang for no reason any more. And, I no longer have to deal with Norton's incompetent "support" robots. Bliss...

Hazza mate I must agree with Jojo... I have had the free version for the last 2 years no problems... so far (knocking on wood)

I also agree, norton was useless and slowed my computer down.
Since I installed AVG free version I've had no trouble.

One of the problems I came across with Norton is that did not let me uninstall it so easily. We had to download a program to uninstall it. Now I have NOD32 and AVG for the other one.
