Keeping up with the Jones's

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

We only have one life. So if you can afford some luxuries that will make you enjoy your life better then why not? What is stupid is to buy something you don't really need just for show off. What is even more stupid is to buy something that you don't really need and you can not afford just so you will pretend you are somebody you are not. Today with the prices of Plasma and LCD coming down I don't think a 42" inch TV is a luxury for somebody that spends several hours of his life every day watching TV like many Cypriots do!

I sure do hope so because it seems that we are constantly going against the tide. We keep getting knocked down, we get up, knocked down blah blah blah. We know that what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger but we are the odd one's out all the time. We have stopped going to family functions because we do not fit in and also because we are "xeni". We never liked being shoved in the corner facing the wall. lol. When we do meet "normal" people, it is like finding a needle in a haystack.

If things make your life easier and more efficient then that is a good thing, but just to go out spending money on things like a new T.V. , when your old one is working perfectly is nuts. The bad patch we are going through has made me realise what really matters. To be warm , safe, well fed and above all happy.

I even had people phoning me up in Cyprus and telling me that it was about time I entertained them again. I would not mind but we had hardly EVER been entertained by them.

JoJo,
Hang in there, you can pick your friends but not your family, I stopped seeing my sister because the only way she could feel good was to make me feel bad. I believe life goes in Cycles and what goes around comes around.

Your turn will come , you will see.
an English saying " every dog has his day, an so will you" be patient things will turn in your favour sooner or later.

Gosh, between cheshire cat and jojo, you have made me want to commit harakiri.

Get a life will you. Never mind what others are upto, good luck to them if they can afford it, whats it to you anyway?

We all want to be in a position to have all those things you talked about and I wouldn't believe anyone who told me otherwise.

Its just a human characteristic and it generates progress, if everyone thought like you, then the human race would be going backwards.

It was ok when you had the money, it was ok to have all those lavish do's with no thought of the starving, but hey guess what, now that you can't, you don't want anyone else to have them either.

I do hope you pull through your difficult times, but come on, don't blame others because they may not be suffering like you.

Be happy for them :D

Excuse me but I was talking to Jo jo and yes you have missed the point , no forced you to read theis thread.

And I know you will not believe it but when we had the money we did a lot for charity both with time and money.

Far be it from me to restrain your suicidal tendancies.

I do not think either JoJo or I were whinging, merely commenting from experience. You seem offended that I at one time had money why, ? after all it was in Cyprus where it was used we were overcharged most of the time.
The point is as I understand it, person A buys a brand spanking new sports car say, his neighbour person B likes what he sees, Person A earns more than person B . So Person B goes and gets a loan to buy a car which is even better than person A. Gets into heavy debt and bingo financial chaos.

As we to the best of my knowledge have never met , how do you know what I did with my money, as it happens we did a lot for charity, mainly childrens charities in Cyprus both with time and money. I have to say that the people who worked hard were mainly the expats, perhaps the Cypriots were too busy or had other things on thier minds.

Please do not judge me, you do not know me.
