It is a form of diplomatic relation, but other countires have representative offices in (north) Nicosia without formally recognizing the TRNC, so this action - while IMHO welcome - is something not to infer too much into regarding any future intentions of formal recognition, though since Abkhazia is unrecognized, is such an action going to gain any real attention from other nations?
It is surprising though that - like Transdnistra - Abkhazia is supported by Russia, which is of course a close diplomatic ally of the Greek Cypriot government, so for the Abkhazia regime to do this is interesting, given its position in the Caucasus and its dependence upon Russia to survive against Georgia.

I know the Armenians,Greeks and Russians living there sided with them against Georgia.I guess though that prior to the deportation of the Abkhazi by Stalin muslims made up the majority of there populous.I havent read anything on Abkhazia recognizing the TRNC though. Russia pretty much controls there government so I would find it very strange, since they have a sizable Armenian,Greek and Russian community.
