Belent Ecevit echoed the same sentiment when he said double union was unacceptable because it would make Greece a middle eastern power.

And there you have the root cause of the Cyprus Problem. Greece has given up any plans to take over Cyprus. But foreign minister Babacan says the reasons for invading and remaining are still there. The reasons are nothing more than a desire to control the whole island.

Until this idea leaves the minds of generals in Ankara we are basically wasting time talking about plans and settlements.
