Will you then say thank you?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The EU does not mess about with these things. If you do not do it you get fined. Now if the power comes from Turkey and we also have the conventional power generators in the south and a whole bunch of solar/wind plants Cyprus will be energy heaven. Add to that the oil that will be discovered in the sea and we are all destined to drive gold plated Mercedes Benzes it seems. I want a white one, four door, automatic, a/c and sunroof please.

We could have all that with two republics on the island and a perceived safe area for tourists and investors...Why aren't we doing that???????? As I said...Not viable politically.

I say, let them do it. That way we can withdraw all the free power the TCs are getting and not to mention the power they are stealing through Pyla and other places.

Let mother turkey fund them, let the TCs pay through their noses for it and then they will realise just how good they really had it.

Yipppeeee, prices will fall in the south when the load comes off from the north free power.

Or is it just another publicity stunt to get the Trash Can recognised

Zan,

The big money is in solar gnerators and photovoltaics. It will be made by non Cypriot companies and they will be announced after the elections.

While we were jerking off with the Cyprob other countries of the EU, especially Spain, were innovating and are now the major sellers and installers of wind plants and photovoltaics. The EU is imposing a minimum quota for producing energy via renewable sources and these innovators are ready to install their gear and make the money. And since we do not have them we will have to call others to install them.

The time is running out, we have until 2010 to do these things and the EU is not joking. The Greeks tried to box clever on this and they are now facing a fine. So all stops have been pulled and anyone can install alternative power systems, something they would not allow for years and years.

It will be interesting to see how the local capitalists will try to get a piece of the renewable pie when they do not have the technology to do so.

Deniz,

on second thought maybe I will join you. A grey mule (got to have the proper color scheme to go with the hair, right?) with a decorated comfy saddle with a pocket for my cellphone and ipod, and maybe one for the zivania bottle. And think of the advantage, you can train it to voice commands "coffe shop", "home" etc. Perhaps you have the better idea there! And is powered by renewable energy too!
