Does CY want to solve the stray / feral cat problem?

Postby GorillaGal » Tue Jan 08, 2008 3:30 pm

after my recent visit, i wonder just how much CY wants to solve the stray and feral cat problem? do you see it as a problem? seems to me that everywhere i went there were postcards and calendars of the cats. what will happen if there is no major problem anymore?
i think some places could actually cash in on the cats, which of source someone already is, by seeing the postcards and calendars.
the hotel i stayed at had a cat, the owner/manager didn't care much about her, but the guests all knew the cat and fawned over her. (especially me!)

not to downgrade a catch/fix/release program....that would be the best method of taking care of the cats.

Don't worry GorillaGal, the recent explosion of Chinese Restaurants in Cyprus may well solve the problem of the feral cat.

GorillaGal, I should have expected such a response from you, my comment is merely a Music Hall Joke, NOT a representation of my own feelings on the subject, please forgive my lack of foresight, Andy.

Postcards and Calendars of the cats for sell?

If that is so, then they should use some of the proceeds from the sales to pay operations so that these cats stop multiplying so fast. This would reduce the number of stray and feral cats.

this is true, and i think some of them do use proceeds to help the cats, but you have to get those kind from the shelters or organizations that help the kitties.
most of the ones i saw were just in the tourist shops, and benefit only the shopkeeper and the company that produces them.

I should have known better than to make such a clumsy joke in the presence of one so obviously concerned with the welfare of the animal kingdom.
Could you not enter the political arena ?, a person of such qualities as you display, might be of benefit to those who occupy the seats of power over us all, a Gorilla's interpretation of territorial matters would certainly ensure that we all kept our noses out of each others business.

Throwing a cold bucket of water over the two usually works...Works for dogs anyway...

seriously though...........My brother inlaw, who hates cats, has been so distressed with what is going on in Cyprus with cats that he actually feeds them in his garden. Something I thought I would never see....
