Hi Yianna. We lived in Cyprus from 92-97 and now from 2002. We got tired of the city rat race (from Sydney) and all the neagtives that come with the city life. We also knew that it would be hard to have a family in OZ. We felt like a fresh start and here we are. The hardest thing for us was finding work as everywhere we applied, we were told we were over qualified. Now we have our own businesses and things are great. We have our ups and downs just like everybody else and question whether we have done the right thing. However, deep down we know we have. Everyone's experiences are different though. My advice is keep true to yourself and just be who you are. Our experience at the beginning was that all the relo's were fascinated by us and they all kept asking why we left OZ. To this day they all think that we are crazy for leaving. They see a few koalas, kangaroos, fireworks etc. and they think that the life there is a bed of roses. But hey, its not. Life is what you make of it, and what you put in you get back. We also had to be cautious with the relo's as the majority of them have shown there true colours in the end. Again I am talking about my own experiences and I am not making a generalistion.

Whatever you do, do not compare it to OZ, coz then you will never adapt.

I'm just freaking out how fast time has gone. i cant believe that in 16 days I'm going to be in Cyprus, starting a new life!!
i just thought id share that with you all!!

Another five days over, you must be getting really excited now?!?!?

Bring some jumpers with you. It will be a lot colder here than Oz at the moment, especially as you are in the middle of your summer ..............................

I made the big move from UK to Cyprus last Sunday.

My first week has been just great . . . . you are in for such a treat. Get ready to smile a lot and spend endless time exchanging news with everyone . . . . the curiosity gene is in abundance.

The weather is marvelously refreshing, if not a little bracing by the sea.

[BTW I too have some German ancestry . . . . Cypriots / Greeks are real mixers. ]
