Regedit

Postby Sega » Mon Jan 07, 2008 4:26 pm

Hello all,

I have another technical question that needs answering. It is to do with the registry of a computer. Basically I have programs installed but I cannot find the key registry entry associated with the program. I am full aware that messing around with the registry can be fatal. My intentions are to backup a single registry entry. Does anybody know were to find the specific registry entry on a computer.

Open regedit, go to "Edit/find" or press ctrl+f. Type in the name of the program and click on "find next" or hit the Enter button on your keyboard. Keep pressing F3 until you find what you are looking for.

Have a look at this link, you may find a freeware prog to help you out.

Like this one maybe?

Not that bad...go ahead and do it...If WinXP shits itself no problem...

Go and get another hard disk, replace it with the old one...Re install WinXP on the fresh drive, then re connect your existing drive as drive E:

This will insure that you won't lose any info from your original hard drive and the whole process will only cost you under US$100 with the current cost of hard drives...and you will end up with 2 drives...
