Whether or not you are aware of them, it is an undeniable fact that in order to be kind and decent, you must follow those tenets my friend. :)

Acorn, I would like to share an experience with you, since you have broached the subject of spiritualism.
Some years ago, I was engaged as a builder to do some minor repairs in "The Beacon Of Light" in Enfield. (A Spiritualist Chapel possibly known to you}.
Curiosity compelled me to attend one of the evening meetings and I must tell you that I witnessed something which to this day holds fast in my memory.
I saw an old man (well known to me at the time) unable to stand upright and walk un-aided, enter one of the rooms where a Faith Healer was attending the sick, WALK from that room and continue to do so till the day he died.
When I questioned him, he informed me that the healer had neither touched him nor administered any form of medication, he had merely placed his hands over the vicinity of his body where he felt discomfort and the pain left him.
THIS despite several years of attendance to Physiotherapists and Osteopaths who could not help him.
Armed with such knowledge of what some people are capable of, let me be the last person to ridicule that which I do not understand.
Best Wishes to you and Happy New Year.

So sorry if you cannot determine the difference between friendly banter and ignorance, I think it may have something to do with education or up-bringing.
Then again, you Frogs have never been the same since Agincourt have you ?.

We, who are of little or no faith (I include myself among them), have just celebrated the festive season, many, (like myself), have passed the time indulging our own hedonistic pleasures totally oblivious to the suffering of those less fortunate than we.
To those who spread what they deem to be "The Message" or "The Good News", we hedonists must fill them with disgust, we should all realize that fact and at least try to present ourselves worthy of our own opinions.
By treating them with such ignorance (actually boasting about it), are we not displaying the fact that they are actually superior to us ?, after all, as far as they are concerned , they are offering us a priceless gift, should we not have the good manners to decline their offer without resorting to base insults ?.
Ultimately, if there are such entities as a God and a Devil, we should at least hedge our bets, Tony Blair has done so, if we refrain from insult, we may at least gain some favour in the "Hereafter", if such a place exists, meanwhile, can we not show a little respect to our fellow man, whatever their religious beliefs ?, not such a difficult thing to do if we take the time to think about it. Happy New Year and Good Will to all men. :)

Now you are speaking utter rubbish. I reject both on the grounds that I am happy with myself and do not need any of these to guide me. I have spoken.

We are Christians

Postby Sophia1 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 11:04 pm

May I remind the new comers that Cyprus is Christian, well us greeks any way. There are many out there to turn against our Christian faith or run a muck of our Christian faith e.g. gambling, prostitutes, human trafficking etc, then attending church.

My Christian faith has always been there

Where are you CHRISTIANI say something..

You are a brave man Denizaksulu, are you suggesting that it is O.K. to insult and deride piety ?.

On this thread I have never insulted anyones beliefs. People will grow up with whatever beliefs are around them. The first belief of mine is respect , to my parents, love for my children, and love for my neighbors. I dont expect the same from my neighbors in return, but it would not go amiss. What I dont like is the unwanted, unsolicited proselytizing. I work with moslem zealots and witnesses. I do not insult them. They are free to practice their own beliefs. If it makes them a good person, thats fine with me. But I will not tolerate them trying to 'convert'/'salvage my soul'.

If that be the case Denizaksulu, why do you dismiss my comments as utter rubbish since they are precisely in tandem with your own ?. :)
